Topic: URGENT ! Please help us help Wisconsin members this morning URGENCY NEEDED!!
Hi everyone,

A doctor sent this to me: "Sitting on Governor Doyle's desk is a budget which ELIMINATES coverage for Bariatric Surgery via Medicaid. Governor Doyle has ASSURED us last week that he was going to veto this provision in the budget. It appears that political pressure (from both parties) has swayed him to a position where he is NOT going to veto this measure. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS BLOW TO THE AVAILABILITY OF BARIATRIC SURGERY FOR THE CITIZENS OF WISCONSIN! We must act NOW! It is our understanding that the final decision will be made early to mid week."

I urge everyone reading this to contact the Governor's office directly by phone - number and email below. Get fellow postops, preops, family members, employers, friends to call and urge him to veto this measure. Explain what bariatric surgery has done for you. Explain how many medications have been eliminated by your weight loss. Explain how much more productive you are after your weight loss. Explain how your quality of life has improved. FLOOD HIS OFFICE PHONE!

Email him. Contact friends in your support groups and urge the same.

I had this from one who will be collecting your emails and sending them to the governor:
"Someone, everyone, please post something on the ObesityHelp.com Message Boards, both Statewide and Nationwide. Urge people to contact Governor Doyle's Office. Urge them to look at this site for more information."

Elimination of Medicaid coverage for bariatric surgery has the potential to start a domino effect of non-governmental health care plans doing the same.

The Governor needs to hear that Bariatric Surgery actually SAVES money in the long run. In fact, a gastric bypass is PAID for in other medical cost savings and increased productivity in three years! He needs to hear that CUTTING bariatric coverage from Medicaid will actually result in increased costs to the taxpayers of Wisconsin!

Even more importantly, what's done in one state will affect other states and in the end, will affect your families, friends, etc. everywhere.

Amy, Glad to hear you're doing well. Just so you know, I still test the waters sometimes and end up sorry. I can eat some sugar, but there's a fine line determining what I can take. I am doing well also. I'm doing a 10K race in Bozeman Aug 6. My mom is coming up (from AZ) and she's going to do it with me. Kinda cool. She's not in as good shape as I am, but this will be her first race in about 10 years! I'm truly looking forward to it. Other than that, nothing really is new. I'm an old hand at this by now, and things just seem to come naturally. I do feel it, though, when I don't get enough water. Thanks for answering and take care. Linn

Hi Linn... I guess I was too lazy to update! LOL! I have been doing alright, other than tonight I thought I would test the waters... everyone was eating banana splits (99/100 degrees outside) and yeah i ate some. Oh GAWD I cannot do that! The pain is horrible. =\ I feel like my intestines are going to explode. It feels like the gassy ick after surgery. PAIN! 1st time and never again until I guess I forget what the pain feels like and need another nasty reminder. And that will not be for awhile and definatley not in public! Anyway, yeah other than that I am doing just peachy LOL! Thanks for asking! How are you?

Girl - you're from my old stomping grounds. Lived in Temecula for 10 years and Lake Elsinore for 5 years. So you're planning on going from Utah to Montana and then back to Nevada? Glacier Nat'l Park is supposed to be beautiful. We'll be camping there from 7-17 till 7-20. Just remember this is BEAR COUNTRY!!! Mean, nasty bears!!! We're taking a couple cans of pepper spray with us!! Kalispell has lots of places to camp, that's still in the northern part of the state but not as far north as Glacier (it's almost to the Canadian border). Kalispell is at Flathead Lake and it's gorgeous!! Closer to the Idaho border and on the Clark Fork River is Thompson Falls & (Wild Horse) Plains. Very pretty area. Northern Idaho - Near Couer d'Alene is also very beautiful - it's a tourist town so there are plenty of places to camp. I'd hit the auto club for some camping booklets to get more info. hope you have a good trip. dianne k
