Topic: Weight Loss Tracking Form
Hello Everyone, I found a weight loss sheet online that I modified and made very useful. It tracks your weight loss and also shows you a graph and you can even print yourself a Certificate to Congratulate yourself on your weight loss. It is in Microsoft Excel and is very easy to use. If you would like a copy please e-mail me at [email protected] and I will e-mail you a copy. Thanks, Dave Surgery 02/14/05 Starting Weight 431 Weight Today 196 Goal 190

Topic: State of Montana Employees
Any of you out there a State of Montana Employee that has Blue Cross, Blue Choice, or New West and have been denied surgery because it is not a covered procedure? Or have been approved? How did you do it approved or denied? I was denied. I called my insurance company New West and asked about an appeal. They said I could but the chances of it getting approved are slim. Can anyone help me in showing me the direction to take? Or help me fight this together to get the State to start making this a cover procedure. Obesity isn't a fad it is a disease. And if we can get the State to understand that we are moving in the right direction. Please feel free to email me. Thanks

Topic: To tell or not to tell???
Hello All, I'm just wondering if you chose to tell your co-workers prior to WLS. I work in a small office with me being the largest by 150lbs. They are nice ladies but I don't want to feel that I need their approval. What did the rest of you do? Kadie

Topic: FIGHT MEDICARE'S RULING ABOUT HOSPITALS!!
According to the news and the PA at the surgeon's office where I *had* an appointment for next week, on February 21st the announcement was made that "Medicare would cover some procedures only at hospitals considered "centers for excellence" by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery." Hospitals were given no time to apply for certification from either organization. We ALL need to contact our federal congressmen and senators about this. The more he11 we raise, the more likely it is the rule will be reversed or revised. Here are some things to point out in your communication (preferably by phone): 1. There was no notice given for this ruling. Hospitals should have had time to apply for certification. 2. Obesity is a life-threatening disease and this ruling has dramatically reduced the facilities available to perform bariatric surgery for months to come. 3. Waivers ARE available and you should urge your politicians to push for a waiver for your particular hospital. Here's the list of US Senators. Just find yours and slam them with emails & phone calls: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm Here's the list of Congressmen. Topic: Project Patty.. Help still needed for Ohio family. Please pass along.
Project Patty.. Help still needed My Dear Neighbor Patty is morbidly obese, over 500 pounds and cares for her mentally challenged brother Leonard. Our state recently cut their funding for their home health care and aid. So I have stepped in and have been doing her cleaning, laundry, shopping and errands for her. She is a very social beautiful person who has found herself housebound now. On top of the obesity she has severe lymphedema and chronic celulitis. She can no longer move about her own apartment and is confined to one chair in the living room. Her and her brother are in desperate need of some clothing. She wears size 6 x in pants and shirts. She needs underwear as well. She can no longer wear shoes so nice comfy socks would be nice as well. Leonard wears size 55 pants and 3 x shirts and t shirts, underwear size 54. Please see if you have any gently used items you can pass along to this family. Project Patty!!!! Original Post by Loraine May at 9:11 AM EST on 02/23/2006 Byesville, OH - RNY (05/06/2005) - Dean J. Mikami, M.D. I want to thank all of you who have requested my address to send clothes and personal care items for my dear friend Patty and her brother Leonard. They have no idea the suprises ahead of them. Since we had the holiday this week and mail is moving a little slow we are delaying the Ambush Makeover/Cleaning team move in until Next Saturday. We have more people available and this will give me more time to gather donations. I am working on a large wheelchair now, and some volunteers to make a ramp. I want her to be able to get out of the house and get some sunshine this summer and not be stuck in a hot apartment and have some fresh air.. Again, Thank you for the compassion you have shown for my friend and her brother. Your kindness will come back to you many times over. Again we are in need of size 6 x Womens clothing and underwear, socks and personal grooming aids. ( baby wipes, facial cleansing clothes, deoderant, toothpaste etc) And for Leonard Size 55 jeans, belts, Tighty whitey size 54, 3 x White t shirts, and 3 x shirts and socks. Also Gently used bath towels, wash clothes, dish towels and rags.. If you have none of these items and still would like to help in some way I have a few ideas that can brighten her days. She LOVES country music. Especially Keith Urban, Conway Twitty, Rascal Flatts, Bluegrass and pretty much anything country. If you would have the ability to burn cd's that would be a great idea.. And she loves to read, so any leftover magazines, paperback novels etc would be wonderful. Cards of encouragement are most welcome as well. I would love to be able to hand her a stack of cards from people all over the country that let her know that there is a whole community of people who have been where she is, and we are here to help. If anyone is interested in being a pen pal with her please indicate that as well. I am just trying to think of any way possible that everyone can help in some small way to remind her that she is important and that there is a real world outside the living room.. I Love you all and thank you so very much for all the kindness you have shown to my dear sweet Patty. I have seen her several times this week and I am about ready to burst trying to keep this Big Secret and not spill the beans. Thank you again, Hugs from Laura in Ohio Contact me for mailing address for clothing etc.. This site powered by ObesityHelp When the above appearance is to your satisfaction
