What do you consider too hot, cold or humid? We generally have low humidity, but get extremes of temperature summer and winter. Wages are low, but so is the cost of living compared to CA (I've lived there, too). Also, what do you consider a small town? To me a small town is under 5,000 population.I've lived in 6 different areas in Montana. I raised my kids in a town of around 300 people, but now live in the country just outside Billings, which I consider a larger city at around 100,000 population. We do have drug and alcohol problems just like in the larger areas, and crime and how friendly people are varies from area to area. The economy is better in the western part of the state--eastern part is somewhat depressed in the small towns dependent on agriculture or oil. Cost of housing can be quite high in some of the western cities that have been "discovered".

I'm in Billings and know there's a gastric bypass support group, but have found nothing for those with lap bands. My husband is banded, too, and went to the gastric bypass group for a while, but felt they resented him.

I'm from Great Falls, The Real Windy City. About 80,000 has most the stuff most people want. Like Walmart and a small Mall. We've had really mild winters the past few years. We also have chinooks as well. But I've seen as cold as -45 below. But I don't think I would live any place else. Michael

Topic: Four Agreements
* Be Impeccable With Your Word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love. * Don't Take Anything Personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering. * Don't Make Assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life. * Always Do Your Best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any cir****tance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

I am from Missoula, where 24 inches of snow on christmas eve is not typical but not unusual. population 65,000 also not too big, but not to small (compared to Houston where I am now (4.1 million peoples) I swear, there is no town in the world that has not too hot, not too cold, not too dry, not to humid, and no hurricanes, tornadoes, forest fires, no white outs, no earthquakes and no floods. it just does not exist. Hi from Montana... Well, Montana is not always "perfect". It gets plenty hot 90+, plenty cold -20 or more, and plenty dry with drought conditions the last few years and lots of fires! We haven't had much snow for several years, but it can dump plenty of that too. We had our first little blast today in fact (all melted now) So... do some weather research before you make any big decisions! Deb Billings, M
