Hi Sharon,
Glad to hear how successful your surgery has been.... I have had a couple of "What the heck am I thinking" moments this weekend as far as having this surgery, so it's good to hear someone else is doing so well with it!
Friday will be here before I know it and it will be over and done with and then I can, hopefully, start reporting how great surgery went and how well I'm losing weight!

Topic: RE: I want to have the lapband operation.....
Hello Bobbie,
I live in Kalispell. I was banded on 5/26/06. It's been 6 months and I've lost 52 pounds. I've had no complications but know people who have. One think I've learned is that the band is only a tool to help you. You still have to watch what you eat. Cookies, cake etc... go through my band no problem, so I know I have to have control and eat wisely. Somedays I can eat chicken and other times I can't. I can't eat until about 11:00 am. So I have a carnation breakfast drink for breakfast. I have no regrets and am glad I had the surgery. But I really encourage anyone considering the surgery to do their research. I was banded outside of the US and the only Dr. in MT who would see me and do my fills is Dr. Roeher in Great Falls. Best of Luck. Feel free to email anytime.

Topic: RE: kalispell or whitefish docs?
Cindy,
I called every health care facility in Kalispell and found most of the time I had to explain to them what a lap band was. Missoula just started doing lap bands but I was told they will only do fills for patients they have banded. Dr. Roeher in Great Falls is the only Dr. I have been able to find. If you find anyone please let me know. Dr. Roeher does my fills and I live in Kalispell.

Topic: RE: Whitefish or Kalispell area........
Hi Jessica,
I used to live in the Flathead Valley, I moved in 2003, at that time there was a support group that met at the Kalispell branch of the county library, I would check with them and see if it's still meeting there. There were, at that time, a couple of people who had they're surgeries scheduled and about 4 of us who wanted to have/checking out the surgery.
Good Luck,
diane

Me too, Me too! I vacationed in Yellowstone back in 1980. It was georgeous, breathtaking and a place I would love to live in. However upon further investigation I realized, I could not afford to live there based on the wages and heating bills. I probably could not take the crisp cold winter, I'm anemic. But it was a glorious place to be. Makes you realize the definition of "God's Country".

Hi Deb, It's only natural to be nervous, so was I, but down right giddy at the same time from happiness, I had waited so long. But be assured you will be in good hands by all involved there, and yes, the trips will be worth it, hope the weather cooperates. I have to go occassionally for checkups also. Let us know when you get home, your experience will be quick and successful. Jud

Glad to hear you singing praise for Dr. Rohrer... I'm scheduled for Lap-Band surgery with him this coming Friday! I'm getting sort of nervous... and excited at the same time! I'll just be glad when I wake up and it's over! Lol....
I also live in Billings, so will have to travel to Great Falls periodically for "fills"... but it will be worth it!
Congrats on your surgery! Good luck with you weight loss!
Deb

Hi everyone, I have been watching these forums for years waiting for surgery. I am on Medicare and 65 yrs. old. Just recently, Benefis Healthcare Hospital in Great Falls, Montana has been approved by Medicare for GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERIES, I had an RNY Nov. 20th, now home & doing fine. Mine was done by Rohrer Bariactrics, Dr. David Rohrer. I can't recommend them enough, excellent in every way, they really know what they are doing. I live in Billings, but would go to Great Falls in a minute. So anyone with medicare, or anyone else check it out.
