I haven't tried the prostat brand but I did try the liquid protein one from GNC and ACK it was terrible. Have you tried the New Whey or Profect vials? Felicia =0)

Hi Chris, Sorry to hear about your port leaking. Dr. Rohrer talked to us a little about that happening. Most of the time he said it was after some trauma to the stomach. He said one woman was in a car accident/. Anyway he did say it was easy to fix. I am, of course a self pay. Since I have already saw Dr. Rohrer and made a surgery date for May 7th, I am going to go through with having him do it. He seems very knowledgable and was most informative about the pros and cons. I also have to have a hernia repaired that has been bothering me for quit some time now. That really makes me nervous. I talked with another woman who also had her hernia repaired and ended up in the hospital 4 days because she could ot swallow. I would have a hard time paying for that. i hope all goes well for you. I will be thing of you on the 12th. Let me know how you are doing. I am trying to get prepared for my week of liquid dieting before surgery. Looking at different product for before and after surgery. There are so many different protein drinks that it is confusing. Trying to get some that have good protein source and little carbs. Anyway I have been on the internet a lot. Of course I am not wanting to spend a lot of money. Or at least get the best for my money. I will probably buy some of the unjury that was recommended. I would be happy to talk with you. I am from Bozeman but I could call you from my cell that has free long distance on the weekends. Let me know your phone and best time to call. My direct email is [email protected] . Bye Chris, Good luck. siena

Siena', I purchased a protein powder from a health store. It was a whey type. It's the first time I've purchased protien powder before so I wasn't sure what to buy. I've heard of bad stories from Mx too. You really have to research your surgeons. I couldn't afford being banded in the US. There is another chat with Montana people on www.lapbandtalk.com under search type in "other montanan's out there". These are the people I met at the support group. I'm on Spring break for the next support group so I'm going to try and come up from Kalispell for the meeting. I purchased from Amazon.com a book called Lap Band For Life by Dr. Ortiz. It's really helpful. I still refer to it. Well I better go. Write when you can. ps. my email is [email protected]. Sharon

Hi Sharon, I am glad things are gong well since your fill. Did you ever purchase any of the unjury protein drink? They are recommending that after surgery. Any tip on things that helped you right afterwards. I am paying for surgery out of my pocket but my work schedule will not permit me to take off and go to Mexico. I am pretty set on staying with Dr. Rorher. He shared a few nightmare stories about Mexico with me and it did scare. The cost is a lot higher here but I am willing to do it . i would be interested in other websites that you have found Montana bandsters. It is always nice to talk with someone going through the same thing. I do plan on leaving the hospital asap so I can cut cost. We wil look into the Townhouse Inn. We need to see if we need reservations. I would hate to have surgery and then for some reason find out all the motels are booked because of some event that I did not know about. We have heard that happening to friends of ours. The books on lapband, Did you read any of them> Did you find them helpful?? Better go for now. See ya. Siena'

Hi siena, I take it you are paying for your lap band surgery yourself. I'm orginally from wisconsin, and it was 20-25 thousand there. I don't know how much Dr. Swannack charges, but I'm sure you could get in asap. I went there for my fill's, and it was only a week out for a appointment. Just curious, have you checked into getting your surgery done it mexico? That's where I went, and that's also where I'm going for the repair of a leak in my port. My total cost of surgery, motel, hospital was $7,800.00. I had to pay for my plane ticket, but they did everything else. Even had a driver pick my up at the airport. I highly recommed Dr. Kuri. Look at his web site. It's www.Belightweight.com I called there last week to tell him about the leak in my port, and he could have did it this week already, but I'm going in on the 12th. He has done thousand's of surgery's. A friend of mine is going the end of March to get her's done. Us doctor's would charge $5,000.00 for repair, and mine is being done for $1,300.00. Just a thought for you. If you need someone to talk too, let me know. Chris

Siena, It was very nice to meet you a well. I hope everything goes well for your surgery. It seems like a long time away but it comes up so fast. There are a couple of really good books available on lapbands. If your interested let me know. There is also another web site with alot of other Montana people on it as well. I met them at the support group the night before my fill. My fill went ok. At first I asked for another cc for a total of 3 cc but then I couln't swallow water with out some of it coming back up so he took out 1/2 cc for a total of 2 1/2 cc's and that seems to be the spot. I'm on liquids for 2 days and then muchies for 2 days and then we'll see how it goes. Is your insurance covering your surgery? I went to Monterray, MX for mine. My husband and I stayed at the Townhouse Inn's. It was nice. They have a larger pool and huge hot tub and serve breakfast in the am. It's centerally located. I'd stay there again. Well I better go.
