Topic: RE: How Much
I asked the same thing and was told during the first year not to worry about calories, just protein intake. I imagine that I'm less than 1000 calories 1.5 years post-op.
Good Luck!

Topic: RE: Cheaper Protein drinks?
I like the Pro-Rated shake mix they sell at COSTCO. It's about $25/bag, has a huge amount of protein and tastes very good. I recommend the chocolate - the vanilla is too sweet.
Good Luck!

I find that 99% of the time you can find almost ANY type of protein supplement online WAY cheaper then buying locally.
My two favorites are:
http://allstarhealth.com
http://vitacost.com
My favorite place for samples is:
http://vitalady.com
I would highly recommend only buying samples 1st as it will save you a ton of money in the end.
Also "cheaper" isn't always "better". The cost may be great but if you can't hack the stuff down lol well then it was a waste in the end. No matter the cost it will be something you will be taking for quite a while so having something you can actually drink with out gagging maybe worth the extra $$$.
Good luck to you on your journey!!

Topic: RE: Insurance
I would give your insurance a call and check with them to get the "straight scoop" on what exactly they cover and require for WLS. They really are the only ones that can tell you what you will need to not only be covered but what % you will have to pay out afterwards. Your surgeons office maybe able to help you with some of the details also.
You might check here :

See if anyone else has used the same insurance.
Best of luck to you on your journey!!

Golden Rule: Check with your NUT/Surgeon to see what they recommend for your intake.
But for me I average 800-1000 a day and lose pretty good there, but have to admit that I do not track calories, only protein, carbs and fat. I would give your NUT a call and see what they have to say about what your intake should be.
Best of luck to you!

Hi There Lisami,
I have Blue Cross of CA for another company and we made sure they didn't have a reason to deny me. Call the number on your card and they will tell you where to find all the information. They might could email it to you as well. When we submitted everything I could show I had tried dieting the last 6 months with my Curves memership, I had my physc elvaluation, meet with my surgeon and dietican. I also made sure I had a medical history and medical reason for the surgury. I began the process March 21 and I am having my surgury June 26. You can do it! I am!
Good luck to you!!!
