I am scheduled for surgery June 21, and am very nervous. I am looking for a support group here in Bozeman. I know I am making the right decision, I am just looking to talk to others who have had the surgery.

Where are you having your surgery? I didn't know anyone in Montana did lap band. I live in Missoula and had lap Roux-en-Y in Great Falls, but I'm not sure of any support groups for lap band patients. Sorry I'm not much help, but I go to the meetings occasionally in Missoula. Linn

I guess I don't know the difference between lap-band and Roux-en-Y, but I guess I'm having the second. I too am going to Great Falls for the surgery. I will update my file, to show the correct surgery. Thanks!

Hi Teresa. I am 17 months out and have loved the surgery. I am glad to see you use this board. The best advice I could give you is to walk, walk, walk now. Get in a good protien drink (preop, I suggest Pro Complex) This will help with the hairloss, and forget agout the last supper, so to speak. I eat pretty normally now, just much smaller portions. I have a yahoo group if you are interested in joining it. Its specific to the Missoula Bariatrics but we will let others join. just email me if you want to join. Good luck, I am about 6-10 pounds from goal and no regrets!

Hi Teresa! I'm in the same boat as you. My surgery is only 9 days away ... June 14. I am also nervous, but excited to finally be on a road to a healther lifestyle. I have been researching WLS for about 3 years, and have read both the good and the bad posts from this surgery. I sincerely feel that I am making the right decision, for both myself and my family. Hang in there! I will be thinking of you. Write to me if you would like someone to talk to, as I enjoy hearing from anyone going through this surgery, and those who have already had the surgery, and how they are doing.
