just wondering if ?
Well I would certainly follow whatever your surgeon's advice for the pre-op diet is. With that being said, if you think you can drink only 4 shakes a day for two weeks, wow...more power to you! I was nothing but hungry and grouchy the entire 2 weeks (my family will concure)!
Of course, the reason you do the pre-op diet is to shrink that liver and make the surgeon's job a little easier when he's in there...so the more weight you lose the better. However, I was surprised that when I arrived for my scheduled surgery, my pre / prior / current weight was never even discussed! I'm not sure what your surgeon or hospital would do as their protocol.
I'm sure the Dr. would *know* whether you made a pre-op diet attempt when performing the surgery. I did my darnest to follow his recommendation, and did lose about 13 lbs in that 2 week diet. But it wasn't easy!
Good luck~
I don't know who your surgeron is but you may want to give them a call before you start making changes to the liquid diet. There are reasons for the amounts of things they have you eat/drink. The less protein you get in during your liquid diet the more tired and malnourished you are going to be. My (2 cents) would be to drink what they told you to drink even if you dont think you can drink another drop. It will be over soon!!
Always call your surgeons office. They are the best at telling you what you should and should not do.
Best wishes!
