Hey everyone, my name is Angela and I had my Lap RNY with Dr King Jan 26, 2003. Starting weight was 230, 5 months out of surgery I was 125 and I maintained that weight up until the last year or so I am at 117. You will love him! Dr King and his nurse Robin are the very best! Be prepared because he's extremly strict about everything (your diet, vitamins, protein shakes, labs and every 6 mth follow ups for life) If you haven't already, visit the website for The Surgical Clinic of North Mississippi and you will need to call Becky at LivLite and she will take all your information (insurance info, past diet history, any medical conditions, etc) then she will submit all the info to your insurance company. Takes about 3-4 wks (sometimes less) for an answer but if anyone can do it Becky can! She's amazing!! She was actually crying when she called to tell me that I had been approved. You won't have to do anything but call her, she takes care of everything else. Good luck and you can rest assured you have made a great choice! If I can help in any way please let me know.

Topic: RE: Best Ever Grilled Chicken

I will have to try this and see if I can't get my taste for chicken back.  I have always loved chicken but for some reason lately it just makes me want to gag to handle it or cook it or eat it.  I don't know what is up.  I have just kind of been off my feed lately.  I don't usually do well with left over chicken either, but would love to be able to use leftovers for salads the next day at work.  So, I will give this a try.  Do you mix the Dales and Italian together first and then pour over the chicken or just pour it over the chicken separately?

Thanks for always sharing food ideas and recipes with us.

Happy New Year!

Melissa

8 boneless skinless chicken strips
Dales Steak Marinade
FF Italian Dressing
Red Pepper Flakes

Place ckicken in a gallon size ziploc bag. Add Dales & Italian Dressing, enough to cover chicken. Add pepper flakes to taste. Shake bag to mix all ingredients. Place in frig, allowing to marinate 2 - 3 hours, shaking bag two - three more times. Place chicken on grill, pouring remaining marinade in bag over chicken. Grill on a low heat grill to keep chicken from drying out, turning once during cooking.

This is the best chicken ever, or at least we think so. I am sure you could cook it inside on the forman but not sure the taste would be the same. The chicken is so tender and tastey. I had some of the leftovers on a salad for lunch yesterday and it was still nice and moist. I usually can't eat leftover chicken very easy, it hurts my tummy. Not this one....it is yummo!! Hope you like it too!!

I am with you. I rode the emotional eating roller coaster this past week or 2 and now is time to get off the ride! I started with my protein shake for breakfast, brought 2 protein bars for snacks, and a Lean Cuisine for lunch. That right there is already an improvement for me. HaHa. I need to get serious about my weight loss. I thought that I would have lost more weight by now. I'm off by about 10 pounds. But I had set a high goal. Today is a new day, and I'm ready! I don't beleive in New Year's resolutions. They are doomed to fail. But I do believe in lifestyle changes and that is what I am currently working on. I hope everybody has a good holiday week.

Looks like our board is as busy as ever...lol!! Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! It's time to put away the eating habits of the holidays and get back to the basics. I did fairly well over the holidays. I did over indulge in a few too many peanut butter crackers dipped in chocolate.... FOr the most part, I managed to stick with meat, cheeses and veggies and maintained my weight, which is a good thing!! Now, back to business. I am determined to be at/below my goal weight by my surgiversary. My sig says 140 but my real personal goal is 135. I bought my first ever single digit pair of pants over the holidays, a size 8!! I thought I would never get there!! I plan to get ack into a regular exercise routine this week and start back on protein shakes for breakfast. I had got in the habit of eggs and bacon for breakfast. I must break this cycle...lol!! I do much better when I have a shake for breakfast, I get more protein in my day that way and less calories!!! It's a win, win. Hope you all have a Happy New Year!!

Topic: RE: Where the.....
Hi, Merry Christmas to  everyone.  I am a lurker also....haven't had surgery yet, waiting on the insurance company to approve...hopefully soon! Will have my lap band surgery in Mobile.
I live near Meridian, Ms....still looking for a support group...there used to be one in meridian, but due to lack of interest, fell through...too bad, as there are folks out there that could use some support.  I guess I will travel to Tuscaloosa once a month, it is an hour and half drive there.  Once a month though isn't too bad.
I enjoy this site, good support and information from everyone who has had either the lap band or gastric....keeps me informed. It is also nice to see there are a lot of folks like me who have a skinny self hidden somewhere inside, waiting to be revealed.  Best of luck and wishes for everyone, and wishing a very healthy New year.  farmgirl58
