Topic: Hello! New here.
Hello, I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself.  I live in Oxford and am just now starting this jouney.  Last week my 19 year old daughter asked me to have weight loss surgery for her, because she is afraid I will die soon.  That was like a punch in the chest!

I of course started researching immediately.  I am going to a information session given by Dr. King and Dr. Byars in late April.  The big problem will be financing.  I work for the state so our insurance will not pay for it, period, end of discussion.  I was told not to bother sending a letter requesting a review.  So I'm stuck on the financing issue.

But since I'm just beginning this process, hopefully I'll find a way to work around that.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying learning through this website and am impressed by how supportive everyone is.

Topic: Introduction - Hello!

Hi, there!
I'm still relatively new to OH and wanted to introduce myself on the Mississippi board.  I live in Clinton, MS and I'm interested in the Lap Band.  Right now everything for me hinges on if an employee physical from 2001 comes thru.  It's the only way I can demonstrate a weight for Aetna of a BMI over 35 for at least the last 2 years which is required for approval.  I called for the records; if they find them it takes about 3 weeks to receive them.  They're coming all the way from New York City.  I faxed in the records request on 2/25.  They may have destroyed the records or lost them since it was so long ago.  Trying not to focus too much on that and think positive.  So I'm in limbo land.  If they can't find the records, or Aetna won't accept it, then I have to wait until January of 2010.  ARGH!

I've been to 2 seminars and I've chosen Dr. Ken Cleveland at CMMC in Jackson.  I haven't seen the surgeon yet since they want you to bring in proof of weight history and that's what I'm waiting on.

So I'm just waiting, waiting...hanging out on OH and wishing!

Nice to meet you all!  I welcome any comments you may have as far as your experience with Dr. Cleveland or CMMC or anything at all.

Hi, I have BC/BS through the gov't, I work in Miss, but live in Alabama, and my insurance is covering Realize lap band....I met my requirements, and am having my surgery done in Mobile, which BC/BS of Al. is picking up.  Not sure if they will cover gastric though.  I was told though by the insurance company that the procedure will have to be done in the state I live, which is Alabama.  So good luck in the process.  Farmgirl58

Hey Tammy,

I hate that I missed the meeting last night. Husband is out of town and I didn't want to bring my toddler to the meeting. I really missed you guys and I hope that you all had a great meeting.

Jay,
OMG I almost didn't recognize you!!! You look like a different person. And this is the first time I have seen you smile. What a blessing that you took this step in your life to make yourself healthier. And I know your self-esteem has taken a boost as well. Your date is gorgeous too, by the way.

I hope you had a great time.

Tammy
