No, there is no charge.  I had my RNY surgery in Mobile, but I've been going to the Wls Support Group the month before my surgery which I had May 1 at Mobile Infirmary with Dr. Jeffrey K. Hannon.

Thanks, Linda.  Is there a charge for people who were not patients of Dr. Avara?

Dr. Avara isn't there. Lisa and Dena from the office and the nut was there this last month. It is for any patients who have had WLS or are thinking about WLS regardless of where you had WLS surgery. Any other questions I would be happy to answer for you.                  Linda

Are the meetings just patients or is it moderated by Dr. Avara or someone from his office?

It is open to anyone regardless of where they had their surgery. I had mine in Mobile, too but I didn't want to drive all the way over there  for support group meeting. The people here are really nice. Need any more info let me know............................Linda

Topic: Game Day Bean Dip

As we all know, football season is here!! YAY! With that being said, a lot of us will have tailgate parties, people over to watch the "Big Game" or just want to hit the couch "the family" to cheer on your favorite team. I have a really good Bean Dip recipe I would like to share with you guys. I made this today for my hubby and I to enjoy as we relaxed and settled in for a day of "Big Games".

Bean Dip

1 can FF Refried Beans
1/2 c sweet onion, finely chopped (minced if possible)
jalapeno peppers (I use the pickled ones in a jar), diced (as many or as few as you like)
1/2c of your favorite picante sauce
1/2 pack of taco seasoning plus a dash of cumin
1/2c shredded cheddar or montery jack cheese

Mix first 5 ingredients in a sauce pan over medium low heat. Simmer about 10 minutes until heated well. Add shredded cheese, stir well, turn heat to low and simmer for about 5 more minutes. Remove from heat and place in a plastic container w/lid. Serve right away or allow to sit for awhile.

***The longer it sits, the better it gets!!

It's good with tortilla chips, but to keep it healthy, it is GREAT with celery sticks.

Oh, and might I add:  HOTTY TODDY!!!!
