Thanks so much! It is just nice to know that you can actually go out to a resturant and eat like a human being again! Right now I feel like chicken would be a God send!!

Thanks for the info I really appreciate it! :)

Topic: RE: I WANT REAL FOOD!!
I had my RNY in mid-August, and I remember how hard the first few weeks were.  Your stomach needs time to heal, but it will get better.  When I go to a restaurant, I usually eat a grilled chicken salad, a grilled chicken breast with vegetables, or chicken noodle soup.  I feel like I'm going to start growing feathers.  It is easier to cook at home to get more variety, though.  There are several foods you will never be able to eat again, and there's a grief process you go through, but after a little while, when you're wearing smaller and smaller clothes, it will get easier.

I also eat a lot, maybe too much, low-fat cheese, protein bars (that meet low sugar/fat standards), and lots of vegetables, tofu mixed in things, and protein shakes still.

Hope that helps some...

Topic: I WANT REAL FOOD!!
Well I am almost 3 weeks out and begining to think I will never eat real food again!!! I am not really hungery because I am eating the SF popsicles, Jello, SF Pudding, Cream Soups and Protien shakes but I am so sick of it already!! I am going to stick with it ...............I am not a quitter or a person who will through away an opportunity!

Just needed to vent! Cause right now a Cheeseburger and Fries sound like pure heaven!!!

I have also read how the food I will be eating has to be much when swallowed. Those of you further out eating real meals even at resturaunts .....how do you do it? Are there limitations due to what the food is? I figured I had to swear off shrimp..........it is rubbery and hard to make small enough to go down my opening. A nurse told me to NEVER eat a steak again? What are the rest of yall able to eat? I know what I shouldnt eat .......but how do I handle the foods I can eat?

Thanks :)

Topic: SUPPORT GROUP IN MERIDIAN, MS

I understand there is a support group forming in Meridian for WLS, I know that Dr. Billups and one other doctor are now doing lap band surgery and heard there is going to be a support group.  Has anyone heard about it and if so, when and where?  I need a support group to attend to help get the last 50 lbs off.

Dr Whitehead is retired.  I think that Wesley Medical is doing biatric surgery starting this year.  Might want to check there.

Thanks, insurance can be a headache but worth it in the end.  Just stay on them and I hope all works out.

So Dr. Whitehead only takes pts that had Gastric Bypass and not ones with the Lap Band?  Seems like they wouldn't care.  Thanks so much for the info it was greatly appreciated.
