There are several of us (me included) that did not have surgery with CMMC WLS group, and are most certainly welcome! Don't remember the name of where we meet, but it is the first drive in front of the hospital - believe it says "Medical officers" or something similar - but it is the first drive in front just go in the double doors and first hallway to the left - maybe give them a call and ask more specifically (I just show up when Kim tells me too!! Ha)....There will be lots of new banders that will be so happy for the support from someone further out ! as CMMC just started doing bands and have lots of newbies....

I am new to the MS area...but may have some help for you....first stay with what YOUR surgeon recommends...( that is why we pay them the Big Bucks ) also...what helped me....I took a blender (or majic bullit or stick blender) and was able to get LOTS of everyday foods to qualify as full liquids...by adding milk, broth, water to the "food" items...you can "liquify" just about anything .... we were told to follow this "rule" ....IF you can drink it thru a large straw then it is concidered a "full" liquid..(you don't actually NEED to drink it thru a straw...when "ate" with a spoon you feel like you are eating a more NORMAL diet...)..I took many items and liquified them...I know that it woulds strange to have a "chicken or tuna or beef soup" but they are still very tasty....and it is very high in protein...this really helped me get thru those early stages...
Good Luck and I hope that helps

DeAnna,
thanks for the reply....I am excited to hear of a support group in the area...I have been involved it support groups since right after my surgery...and have always felt that the encouragement and support that I got from those meetings was a big help in the success that I have had so far...
It has been a very hard thing for me to move away from my support group(s)....I was involved in a joint group in Savannah GA...and assisted the leader (an RnY patient) with the lapbanders...muy surgeon even arranged for me to take the support group leaders training that is given here at OH....I really loved it...being able to encourage those that are just starting out...I also was a Co-leader for our Lapband group that met in Brunswick GA (I was the Patient Advacate..We also had a Psych Doc...) I know that being involved with the leadership of the group really helped me to remain accountable...
I look forward to meeting you...and will put this date on my calander...(I am assuming that it is acceptable for other Dr. Patients to attend???) Is there a particular place at the Hospital that you meet??? I actually drove by the hospital today (at least if there is only ONE CMMC hospital) so at least I will know where to go...thanks again for the reply
Blessings...Debbi

Time will go by faster than you think. Be careful about adding anything that the doctor did not recommend. I think most of us did venture out and try other foods but our doctors did know best. The only times that I got sick was when I tried things I thought I was ready to handle.
Good Luck!
