Lynne,    Hello!  Nice to meet you!  I'm Kimberly and I haven't been on here in a while due to computer issues.  But I'm back!  ;-)  I am the president of the Jackson support group, and we have a really good program.  We'd LOVE to see you there next week!  Infact, we are having a taste-testing of bariatric friendly recipes.  So if you have one, cook it, mix it, whatever and bring it.  Of course it's NOT required to get in the door.  Just if you want to bring something.  :-)  We have several people from other clinics.     We have a post op group that meets at 5:30ish (late is not a problem) with Dr. Hawks, therapist extraordinare (sp?), and then at 7 the regular support group is open to all.  We try to finish around 8.  We have door prizes, so bring a buck or two if you want to play.  Feel free to email me offlist at [email protected] and I'll answer any ???s you may have. Hope you can make it!
HUGS!!

Girl, I don't like nasty medicine either.  The sublinguals have very little taste and dissolve pretty quickly.  LOL.

Topic: Tuesday Coffee Talk PLEASE!!!
Good Tuesday morning everyone!  I hope you had a good nights sleep.  I know I did.  I was asleep by 7:30 or something till 8.  I did wake up long enough to talk to my baby last night and my Pastor , then right back to sleep.  LOL  I know that's why I'm already up and at 'em.   Our challenge today is for one of our very own.  Julie is back in the hospital.  She needs us right now.  Please join me in filling her page with love and support!  She's having complications that have been ongoing since her WLS.  Julie has sure been through ENOUGH!  Yet, she has kept good faith and she has ALWAYS shown support.  Even in the hospital, she calls to check on others.  This time, let us support her!  Here is her link. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/status.php?N=C1131508261 Please help me show her the love we all have!  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  Julie, I know you are reading and just know that I am praying.  So are many others!  Keep your head up and KEEP THE FAITH MY DEAR!! WE LOVE YOU!!! So, who's up?  What cha sipping on?  Me?  I'm enjoying some awesome Harry & David Moose Munch Tripple Chocolate.  Man!  I am hooked on this coffee!  What are you enjoying this morning?   Ya'll have a wonderful and blessed Tuesday as you SUPPORT JULIE!!!!

I can't believe your doctor gave you b-12 pills? Was this your surgeon, or PCM? PCM's don't really understand how the RNY works. The reason we can't take B-12 through any way but subliqual or shot is because we don't have the intrisic factor to absorb it from our stomach. That part of the stomach was bypassed. Also, I take b-12 shots every week. I am not deficient, never was, but some NORMAL people take it once a month AND they absorb it... so we need more cause we don't absorb it. There is no known toxicity for too much B-12. Sounds like this is going to do well for you. You are probably anemic due to lack of B-12. I would suggest taking it weekly (the shot) and if you don't go ahead, do the month shot, and then do the sublinguals once a week (or 3000-5000 mcg a week). Hope all is well with you and yours =)

Topic: RE: ICU?
Hey sonya... I think staying in the ICU the first day is a great precautionary measure--just think, you'll be monitored continuously, and nurses can hear any alarms that may sound off any where in the unit right away-- where as on the floor, they may not detect any serious problems (as with blood pressure, and/or other vitals) for hours, since they only do them routinely (approx every 4 hours).  Also, you will see your ICU nurse at the least once every hour, where as on the floor, you may not see her for a couple of hours or until you call since they are pretty busy,  have more patients to care for, and don't really expect many complications. Congratulations, Tina
