Gallstones

I had an ultrasound this morning and it showed that I have gallstones. My doctor is out of town this week, but said last week that if there was any sign of gallstones he wanted to take out my gallbladder before things got bad. Gives me something to look forward too, NOT... Rhonda

I'm so sorry to hear - have you been feeling it? (sorry, I'm out of the loop - been moving). When will you find out about having it out? DeAnna.

My doctor will be back in his office next Monday, so I will find out early next week. For the past few months I have been having pain in my shoulder behind my right shoulder blade, and then I started having pain in my chest that feels like constant heart burn, both are symptoms of gallbladder problems. I have just started feeling it in my actual gallbladder. It is weird how our bodies work. Did you get moved? Did you just move locally or did you move away from the town you were living in? We go back to court with the DH ex on June 12, I hope I can have it and be recovered by then, if not it will have to wait until after that. Rhonda

Sorry to hear that. Gallstones are no fun. I thought I was dying when I had them. I was glad for them to take the thing out LOL. Things had gotten bad already before they knew what was wrong. So I hurt for a while with those stupid stones. The surgery really wasn't too bad. Mine was outpatient and I had it done on a Friday and was back at work on Tuesday like normal. Just sore for a week or two. Good luck and keep us posted. Melissa

I have just started having symptoms that have been getting worse as time goes by. The technician said my stones are small but I want it out NOW.. I was wondering how long I would be out of commission. I am going to try to have mine out on a Thursday too so that I can get back to work early the next week. With everything going on right now, I don't know when I will have time. Rhonda

Sorry to hear about the gallstones, I hear they can be very painfull so the sooner you have them removed the better. Did you have your appointment at Keesler this past Thurs.? I had my 9 mo. appt. with Dr Jenkins but didn't get to see him, I saw an older doctor (definitely retired) and was told to call back the end of May and maybe I could see one of the doctors then. I didn't have any lab work or anything else done, what a wasted trip (drove from Wiggins). Just had to vent, I do hope things go well for you until you can see the doc again.

Hey Cindy, I did get to see Dr. Jenkins and he told me that Dr. Dolan would be back this week, so maybe between the two of them, one of them will be able to see you next time you come in. Dr. jenkins is on leave this week because I sent him an email and got an out of office reply saying he would return Monday the 15th. I hope I can get them out soon, I am miserable at some times because of it. Rhonda

Sorry to hear about the stones. My doctor told me if the ultrasound shows gallstones he will take it out when he does the RNY,if not he will put me on medication to prevent gallstones. Were you on that medication after surgery? I wonder just how good the medication is at preventing the stones. Good luck. glenda and walter

I have not been on any medication for prevention of gallstones. I did not know there was such a thing. I wish I had of been then I would not be so miserable right now. My biggest complaint is my right scapula (shoulder blade) hurts constantly.. Nothing helps. Not to mention I always feel like crap after I eat. Best of luck with you and yours... Rhonda
