Hi All -

BariatricTV is a podcast by WLS patients for WLS patients.  We launched on Halloween and our latest episode is now up and can be viewed at www.bariatrictv.com.

You can also get our episodes via iTunes - go to Store/Podcasts/Video Podcasts/Health and look for BariatricTV..

We welcome all feedback, ideas, thoughts, etc.

Our most recent episode has a segment in it from the recent OH convention in LA...  Check it out!

I went to check out this page and LOVED IT!!! These ladies say exactly what is in my mind and they have fun doing it. I subscribed to their webcast and laugh at each new episode. They are only about 5 minutes long and we can all afford a five minute break! I even forwarded them to my surgeon's office manager so she can mention them in our next support group meeting!

Lynnda thanks for spreading the word!

Tammy!  YOU are the bomb diggity girl!  Thanks for fowarding our info to your surgeon.. That is awesome!  Toni and I are definitely getting more comfortable in front of the camera and as the episodes go on we get dorkier and dorkier.. LOL.. Our producer is saying he is going to put out a bloopers episode for the holidays. UGH.. I am not sure I want to be THAT dorky!

If we aren't talking about EVERYTHING that is in your head - let us know what you want to see.. we will be happy to do an episode on anything WLS related..  and if we don't know the answers to some of your questions.. we will find em out!

Our Thanksgiving episode will post on Wednesday vs Friday.  A yummy dessert recipe is included and we wanted everyone to be able to make it for their Thanksgiving feast!

Lynnda,
I think WLS is like church. It doesn't matter the building you get the work done at because our goals for success are all the same. And anything we can do to encourage each other or even chastise each other (when needed), will be beneficial to all of us in the long run.

I think it's amazing how people think WLS is a quick cure and when they don't follow the guidelines and ultimately fail, they don't waste anytime in sharing how their "surgery" didn't work for them. So I think the successful WLS people need to rally together and promote our success stories or even our "works in progress". And your show is an AWESOME way at doing that.

Thank YOU and thank Toni for reminding us that we are all FREAKS!

I totally agree.. I remember back when I had my surgery - OH wasn't that well known (if you can imagine).. So I shared this website with my surgeon and everyone I knew.  When Sue got her website up and running (bariatriceating.com) I shared that info with everyone I knew.  Same with meltingmama, the WLS channel - on and on and on.  In the beginning there was so LITTLE information about this that you just had to basically take it on faith that everything would be okay.. Now there is so much information that anyone can make an informed decision about pre-op lifestyle changes, surgical procedures that are best for them, post op protein, etc etc etc...  AND since I think that SUPPORT is so important after surgery - everyone who has this done has NO excuses for not getting support (and the occasional kick in the arse -as you noted) to help keep them on track.  BTV is just one more arrow in the arsenal of keeping it real AND keeping it successful!

Freak On!
