Probably last meeting

As I posted a few months ago, Dr. Whitehead is no longer performing the gastric bypass due to his upcoming retirement.  At this time, none of the surgeons in his group would like to take on this procedure and an additional surgeon to do this surgery has not been hired.  Due to the decline in attendance at support group meetings and being that no new members will be added by Dr. Whitehead, tonight will probably be the last meeting at Pine Grove in Hattiesburg.  They had hoped to continue the meetings even though he was retiring and not doing the surgery anymore, but the earlier patients who are now a few years out just no longer attend.  I hate to see the group end because it has been a good support for me, but attendance has been sparce, and it is time for it to end.  

There is another support group that meets in Hattiesburg at the office of Dr. Beverly Smallwood.  I do believe this group meets the last Tuesday of each month.  Hopefully, Tammy will come on here and give all of that information out.  I, myself, plan to join this group as I know some people who attend.

I hate to hear that about Dr. Whitehead. I know that he is a valuable asset to many weight loss success stories in Hattiesburg. His patients are always welcome at Dr. Avara's meetings. We meet that last Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm. I'll post the info when we get closer to the date. I know that our next meeting is going to focus on nutrition, as a lot of us had questions on nutrients in portions, supplements, etc.
