questions I know you can answer!
Hi guys, I am well, down 34 pounds in a month! I had a family reunion on Saturday and had no trouble saying "no" to the tons of foods there. I even cooked a lot of it myself. I did miss "tasting" the things I cooked for seasoning purposes, but found that my sons and grandestchildren don't mind a bit being the test taster!
I was told by the doctor to start eating "shaved" beef and turkey. Everytime I try to eat turkey it goes down okay and I feel full really fast, but I do this slimy salivating thing right afterwards....what the heck is that and why is it happening to me? I have a hard time spitting that sticky stuff out! What can I do to help this?
The other thing is does anyone know "why" we dehydrate so quickly now? I do a good job most of the time keeping dehydrated, but when I don't those kidneys let me know it, either by minor discomfort or dark urine. I am drinking more than I ever have, but I'm curious where it all goes! I don't seem to urinate near as much (probably because of no caffiene).
One more question....what do you all do for breath control? My halitosis nasty breath offends me sometimes!
I just love having mentors and you all are the best!

Anita, CONGRATS on the 34 pounds! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!! And the family reunions can be the hardest, both with food selection and with the stress. I'm so proud of how you handled it. I never had any doubt about your self-control. :-D
I don't know if the concerns you have are only due to the RNY, because I've not experienced them as a Lap Bander. But I'd still be interested in seeing other people's comments, for future reference.
So glad things are going well for you!
Love ya,
Tammy

Thanks Tammy....my mother and father are both dead and the last time my brothers and sisters were together was for my mother's funeral ten years ago. We were not fighting or anything like that, just doing our own things and somewhat geographically separated, so getting together was hard to accomplish. We had a GRAND time....my brothers have become Christians and it was different but great for them minister to me and my sister instead of the other way around! I was truly blessed. We've decided to get together again in June, so we can swim and barbeque outdoors. As warm as it still is, the water in the pool is COLD. I ate 1/2 tsp of squash casserole and it was so good, for one moment I was in heaven....LOL There were other things I itsy bitsy sampled that were good too, but for the most part i adhered to the plan.
And how are you doing sweetheart?
Love you too,
Anita

Hey sweat pea!! I am right there with you on the thick slimy salava and I am 2 1/2 years out. It happens mostly when I eat certian types of meat or if I eat too fast. It is a form of dumping I believe. Not real sure why. I was told by the time a person feels thirsty, you are already partially dehydrated. My kidneys scream at me too. My back hurts a lot of the time when I am needing fluids. My skin also gets really dry. We just can't hold enough at one time to keep from dehydrating I guess, no professional answer...sorry. My doc told me 30 minutes after eating, start drinking and don't stop until 30 minutes before eating and to do this all day. As far the nasty breath, there are some great sugar free peppermints at wal-mart. Give them a try. Be proud of that breath...lol. It means youa re burning fat! Youa re in ketosis! Congrats on the weight loss by the way. You are doing AWESOME!!!!

Don't blame you there. I had to give up pretty much all reheated meats. I can not eat left over beef..... It is just too dry. I dont really like beef anymore so it is not a problem. I also have trouble with leftover chicken. Chicken in general if it is dry ( I do however live off of it.) I have learned where to buy it when eating out and how to cook it at home without making my tummy mad!! Have a good day!

I'm back on cream soups for a day or two. My DH made chili Friday night and tried to kill me with it! My pouch revolted and revolted. I mostly stayed hydrated over the weekend knowing it was the best I could do.....Amazing how I could eat Wendy's chili everyday for darn near a week and it didn't bother me. I still can't do chicken unless its blenderized. It just will NOT go down. I'm only 5 weeks out tho, and know it will get better. The things I'm learning are priceless! Have a great week!
