Anxious about tomorrow's seminar

Tomorrow morning I meet with Dr. Avara and his staff for my initial seminar!

I've already sat through one in Mobile last fall. So I kind of know what to expect. And this time the timing is right. I have the financing. I feel completely comfortable about this. But now I'm also starting to feel anxious.

I have butterflies in my tummy. I keep eating because "this might be my last meal." I know that I am at the higher end of the scale compared to most of Dr. Avara's surgery patients. But do I weigh too much? How soon can I have my surgery? I'm ready to get this done! I told you I was anxious. LOL!

My prayer is that I get a surgery date tomorrow and that Dr. Avara puts me on some kind of a diet leading up to the surgery. I am worried that I will emotionally eat myself to sickness or cause my labs to be out of whack, or something worse could go wrong with me medically. Trust me - I am NOT normally like this. But I feel like the night before my wedding, or a kid getting ready to go to my 1st day in Kindergarten. And I am having a hard time sitting still and focusing while at work. Just thought I'd jump start the forum by laying it all out there.

I'll try and get back to work. I know my boss would appreciate it.

Tammy, just curious how your seminar went.  I can understand the "this might be my last meal" thing.  I think I gained 5 pounds from the time I found out about my surgery date to my surgery date.  My surgeon didn't require the weight loss that so many require these days.  Of course that was six years ago.  Let us know when your surgery date is.

Thanks, Shel. It went GREAT!! Look at my blog for the most detailed info but basically I need to be on a liquid diet now, even though my surgery isn't for 2-3 wks. That's ok. Actually it is a blessing as it will force me to focus on something.

I just realized what your photo was. That is AWESOME!
Congrats on your amazing journey!

Hi Tammy,
I'm glad your seminar went well.  Dr. Avara is a wonderful doctor...it was the best move I ever made when I decided to go to him for my surgery.  His staff is great too.

I just read your blog and want to caution about trying to survive for too many days on water and diet drinks.  You've got to get in some protein or you will be sick and run down by the time your surgery date rolls around.

Dr. Avara's preop diet allows milk, light yogurt, and cottage cheese, plus protein drinks.  I'm almost two years out, and I still have a protein drink every day.  I use EAS AdvantEdge Chocolate Fudge, which has 17 grams.  Tried several others, some of which I ordered online, including powdered protein.  But this one is available at WalMart or Krogers, and costs about $5 or $6 for four.  I just couldn't stand the powdered protein.  All of it takes some getting used to!

I don't mean to come off sounding preachy, it's just that I've "been there, done that."

Proud of you for making this commitment.  Send me a pm if you have any questions or anything.

Pam

Pam,
Thank you for preaching. I am converted! LOL!

Actually I am in the process of trying to find some powdered protein right now. I want to add it to my broth, or milk, or whatever.

So EAS AdvantEdge is available at Wal-Mart? I may give this a try. I'm going to double-check at Curves on my lunch break first though.

Thanks again for all of your valuable help!

Tammy
P.S. What do you mean by sending you a PM??

From your profile click on "my messages" and then on the right there's a button for sending messages.  A list of friends appears and you pick the one you want to send a message, sort of like email but it goes to your OH account.

I noticed you're on the mission team that goes to Honduras.  On June 29th, I sat next to Glynn Pope, a minister from Byram on a flight from Jackson to Atlanta.  He told me all about the mission.  I think he was headed there for 2 weeks, but his son was staying 6 weeks.  I was traveling to visit my daughter in Kodiak, Alaska.
