Missed H'burt Support Group Mtg - what did I miss??
We had a new post op and a soon to be post op join us so we mainly focused on those early days out and all the questions and concerns that they had. And then at the end, I discussed post op life from the far out side of things and what to expect the farther out you get. I am going on five years out from Rny, and I help Janet coordinate the Hattiesburg meetings. We hope to have some guest speakers lined up for the fall.

Wow Melissa sounds like ya'll had a great meeting! I hope to be able to start coming back next month. Hoping to hear from the schools in the next week. I have talked to them twice this past month. Seems like it takes them forever to get people that are already there in order before they can decide where to put new people. Anywho if I get Baxterville like I want I will be off work no later than 2:40 in the pm. WOO HOO please pray that is the one I get. That will give me enough time to get supper done and hopefully me and Janielyn can come to meetings. Although she is getting very distracting so not sure she will sit good.lol lol We will see.

Janet is supposed to be going to a class about running a support group. I may try and go with her. She and I have been talking back and forth about some ideas to gear the meetings so that they are more useful to those of us farther out. I have told her what I encounter here on the boards hanging out on the graduates board. I tried explaining that our issues this far out are so very different from the early outs or soon to be post ops and that the oldies quit coming because the meetings are just not useful anymore to them. So, we are going to try and come up with some topics and speakers that maybe can help us with long term success and maintainance. I have explained that the surgery is not a fix all and that weight can very easily be gained back if not diligent. So, those are the issues we deal with now. Once we figure out our plan and what we hope to do, we will send out a mail out to everyone with the plans for the group and a schedule of events/topics. And hopefully we can get it in the paper as well to reach those that had surgery eslewhere that don't know that our group exists. I am hoping that we can get the group back active and close. If you have any ideas, please share them, girl. Love ya.

Melissa, We are in the process of trying to get moved over to the Wiggins (Stone County) area. The company my husband works for has opened an office in McHenry and Paul is going to be the manager. The problem is finding a house that we can afford. We looked at some land this week and I think we are going to see about a mobile home. Anyway, I would love to start coming to the meetings whenever we do get moved. Not sure when that will be though. I will be 6 years out in September. I have put back on about 30 pounds but just have not been motivated to get it back off. Maybe the meetings can help me get motivated once again. We have moved so much (this will be #10 in 20 years of marriage) that I haven't gotten a chance to get involved in a support group. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully we will get to meet at the support meetings.

We would love to have you join us. We are in the process of trying to revamp everything. The group was once really active having get togethers and picnics and such. But, over time as the members got farther out from surgery they quit attending the meetings and we lost touch. The meetings just got to where they were so focused on new post ops that our needs as grads were not getting met. So, we are trying to reorganize and get everyone back in the group. We plan to schedule some topics concerning regain and such that farther outs experience. Once we have things lined out we will do a mail out to everyone letting them know of the changes and hopefully we can get the numbers back up. Just send me a PM when you get moved and settled in, and we can get in contact with one another and get you coming to the meetings. I look forward to meeting you.
Good luck with that move.
Melissa
Good luck with that move.
