May be moving to Mississippi!!

I just got back from visiting my folks in Mississippi and find that I may be making a move to share the load caring for my grandma and help my mom.  Coming from Southern California I wonder what type of culture shock I can expect.  We are currently looking at Clinton (as my niece and nephew attend school there and my daughter would love to attend school with them).  I lived in the south only a short time when I was my daughters age (10) and have an idea of the "culture" but would welcome thoughts, resources and the like. I will certainly connect with the OHers in MS if we make the move as I find the support necessary to stay on track.  Thanks to all! Shelley

Hey Shelley. Good luck with walk. I was born in Long Beach but now live in Southaven, MS (Memphis metro).  Learn real quick to LOVE the accent...hehehe!  Everything is cheaper. There is a support north of there, but not quite sure. I have seen it listed here at this web site. Plus, ASBS site will list surgeons and then you can get support.  Good luck. You will be very welcome here.  We have a support group at Central Mississippi Medical Center that you will be welcome to join.  Clinton is a very nice town, close to Jackson, with good public schools (and Mississippi College is a great little college - got my master's there.

Let us know when you get here and we'll hook you up with folks.  And Ken Cleveland/Erin Cummins at CMMC are the best if you need follow-up care.

Let's see...I DO live in CLINTON...can't really tell you how it compares to other areas locally (We have only lived here since Jan 08) I do like it here...I enjoy our support group and would love to see it grow...Kim is our leader right now...she is a great gal.....

Not having had my surgery here, I don't know the Docs or the staff at the office..but those that I have met are great...Finding good support was very important to me...(with having moved into the area)

Keep us posted and write if you have any questions about the area...If I don't have an answer...I will find one...
