MS Blue Cross / Blue Shield?

I am not a state employee. About a year ago, I asked my insurance provider (MS Blue Cross / Blue Shield) to see if they would cover lap band surgery. At that time, they said that they would cover the gastric by-pass and its complications, but my insurance company still considered lap band an experimental procedure. Does anybody know if this has changed? Thanks, Tammy in Hattiesburg

I have MS BC/BS, I had to pay for my surgery.  My employer's policy has an exception for all weight loss surgery.  However, I think it depends on your employer's plan.

Do you remember about how much the procedure cost you? Ball park estimate?

Most Ms Bc/BS plans have an exclusion (or at lest that seems to be the norm from everyone I know). If it pays for any type WLS you are lucky, take advantage of it! Call your provider and ask if there have been updates to your policy regarding WLS.
