Hello everyone................I just found this Miss board. But I noticed its not very busy.............well all of us needs to change that. I know their are alot of WLS patients out there that need support and I think its great to get to know local people. So I will try to post here often and if you do the same then we can get this board jumping.

Well, glad you found the site - It was a GREAT blessing to me when I had surgery and for a few years afterwards, and sadly, yes, it has just gone downhill in the last year - not many people posting anymore......It would be great if you sparked us on !!!!  So, thanks so for posting....Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!! This board used to be really happening.  There were many of us who were very active and planned luncheons in different cities and we planned statewide picnics and gatherings.  It was really alot of fun.  But, sadly it has gotten really slow.  There are not many of us left on here who post very much.  It would be really great if it got hopping again. But, for now I just check over here to see if anything is going on, and I usually hang out and post on the graduates board since I am so far out.  There are lots of people over there who are as far out as I am and share the same issues.   Welcome to the Mississippi board.  Glad you posted.  So, where are you in your weight loss journey?  Share your story with us.  We would love to get to know you. Best Wishes 2 And a speedy recovery on you WLS.  I'm from Gulfport, Ms.  You can message me anytime you like.  I just had my surgery a week ago so we can share notes.  Best advice I can give you on your post op is walk....walk....walk and sip your fluids constantly!   ~ Romelle

Thanks.  I am interested in knowing what kinds of post op diet you are on.   Clear liquid like before surgery?   Can you have the Slimi Fast?

You can have protein shakes, which mine that I have contain 15 grams of protein per shake.  My Dr. requires at least 60 grams of protein a day.  You also can have soups that are creamed with no chunks or clear broth.  Popsicles, juices diluted with water, SF jello and SF pudding.  At least 64 oz. of fluid a day you can count what you use in your shakes and  juices... popsicles ect. I like the Fuse slenderize brand drinks... not too sweet.  You can also have crystal light, skim milk. Then there's your vitamins, multi with iron 2 x a day and calcium citrate with D 600 mg 3 x a day take with a little orange juice helps absorb better.  Do not take with vitamin, they need to be taken separetly apart at least an hour. There is suppose to be a book WLS for Dummies has great information.  I'm looking into getting it this weekend.  I hope this helps you ~ Romelle

Romelle, Thanks for the info.   Not to be insensitive.... but you mentioned walk... walk... walk.... I know they fill you with air/gas .  Is that a problem?   Does walking help?    Also how long did you have to take off work?   I hope to go back Tues and Wed half days after surgery on Friday.   I have a desk job no lifting, etc.

Yes, walking helps imensely!  This helps get all the gas moving and out.  I had a little trouble with gas getting trapped up in my neck and under my collar bone, it can be pretty painful.  As far as you going back to work so soon, see what your Dr. says.  I'm not going back till friday wich gives me 2 weeks recooperation time.  But I'm on my feet the whole time I'm at work.  A lot will probably depend how you feel also.
