Update on me...

Hey Everyone!  This is a little (or big) update on me and what has been going on lately.  As some of you already know, I went for lab work to make sure everything is okay. My platelet count was low and so was my B-12. Doctor started me on B-12 vitamins, but those weren't doing a thing for me. So, she sent me to an hematologist to see if there was something "more" going on. The hematologist started me on B-12 shots because my body wasn't absorbing the pills like "normal" people. (Yes, I'm abnormal... go figure!!)  :)   Anyway, come to find out the B-12 shots are not working either. Platelet count is still low and B-12 is still low as well. Now, the doctor thinks my spleen is enlarged. I go for an abdominal ultrasound on Friday, May 2nd to see if its enlarged and what not.   While going through all this mess, I find out I'm pregnant! I tell you what, I have some kind of luck. When it rains, it pours, huh??!  Anyway, none of this is pregnancy related and no one seems to know what is going on with me. If they find out my spleen is enlarged and life threatening to me or the baby, it will have to come out. But, of course, I won't know anything until Friday. And on top of all this, my ob/gyn is sending me to a "maternal/fetal medicine" doctor at the end of May. Why she is sending me there, I have no earthly idea. I have never been to one and I'm not even sure what they do. I know what the spleen does, but I guess the question is will they take it out while I'm pregnant or what??  I guess I just have a lot more questions then answers.... but then I can't get answers until after Friday. I'm so impatient!!  lol    Would anyone like to share their wisdom with me? What about having a baby after WLS... that is scary to me in itself. I'll only be 2 years out this July. Anyone have any good advice? And if anyone has any neutral baby stuff... please let me know. I need all the help I can get. I don't know what the sex is, so thats why I say neutral.... for now. I should know in a month or two what I'll be having. Pray its a girl. I do not need anymore boys!!!!!   :) Thanks to everyone for listening.... I mean reading.  :) Karine

Hey again Karine, I dont know about having the spleen out while pg but I know on the pg board there are TONS of people that have hernia surgery while pg.  So not sure if you could or not but I am thinking maybe you could.  lol lol  Again I wish you the very best of luck.  How far along are you?  If you will send me your mailing add I will go through all of Janielyn's stuff and send you some neutral stuff. She had soooooooooooooo much.  We did not find out what she was until we had her.  lol lol  So I have TONS of neutral stuff that she never even got to wear.   Denise

Girl, I have been thinking about you and wondering if you were doing okay and had any definite answers on anything.  I hope they figure things out really soon, and I certainly hope you and that precious baby will be okay.  Good luck and please keep us posted on here.   God bless, Melissa
