Joining a support group in or around Jackson

I was wondering if there are any Support Groups in or around the Jackson area that I could look into becoming a part of. I live in Crystal Springs which is about 25 miles south of Jackson. I had a gastric bypass in May of 2007 and have done quite well. The only thing is that I had the surgery in LA and my Dr is in LA. Does that prohibit me from being in a group with patients who used facilities and doctors in MS? I would really like to meet and get to know some people who have experienced what I have been through and what I am going through. Most people do not understand what I have done and I become quite aggitated when it is suggested that I took the easy way out and that I will gain it all back. It would be nice to have support from people like me. Let me know if any one is interested.

Lynne,    Hello!  Nice to meet you!  I'm Kimberly and I haven't been on here in a while due to computer issues.  But I'm back!  ;-)  I am the president of the Jackson support group, and we have a really good program.  We'd LOVE to see you there next week!  Infact, we are having a taste-testing of bariatric friendly recipes.  So if you have one, cook it, mix it, whatever and bring it.  Of course it's NOT required to get in the door.  Just if you want to bring something.  :-)  We have several people from other clinics.     We have a post op group that meets at 5:30ish (late is not a problem) with Dr. Hawks, therapist extraordinare (sp?), and then at 7 the regular support group is open to all.  We try to finish around 8.  We have door prizes, so bring a buck or two if you want to play.  Feel free to email me offlist at [email protected] and I'll answer any ???s you may have.
