Time will go by faster than you think.  Be careful about adding anything that the doctor did not recommend.  I think most of us did venture out and try other foods but our doctors did know best.  The only times that I got sick was when I tried things I thought I was ready to handle. I am new to the MS area...but may have some help for you....first stay with what YOUR surgeon recommends...( that is why we pay them the Big Bucks ) also...what helped me....I took a blender (or majic bullit or stick blender) and was able to get LOTS of everyday foods to qualify as full liquids...by adding milk, broth, water to the "food" items...you can "liquify" just about anything .... we were told to follow this "rule" ....IF  you can drink it thru a large straw then it is concidered a "full" liquid..(you don't actually NEED to drink it thru a straw...when "ate" with a spoon you feel like you are eating a more NORMAL diet...)..I took many items and liquified them...I know that it woulds strange to have a "chicken or tuna or beef soup" but they are still very tasty....and it is very high in protein...this really helped me get thru those early stages... Good Luck and I hope that helps

My surgeon was a little on the conservative side as well...but I tried very hard to just follow it as close as I could.... I know that EVERY surgeon has different "rules" ...just do your best...and you will look back at this time (when you are down the road and a very successful bandster) and know that it is ALL WORTH IT...

Hi, Ahh this post brings back memories.  I remember marking the days down on my calander till it was time to progress to the next food stage.  Trust me when you follow the prolonged restrictive diet the results are priceless.  I remember your anguish and remember doing the exact same thing you did.  I can only offer words of encouragement to stay the course and fight the good fight because the results are wonderful.  When you do progress to pureed veggies.. try Lima Beans blended.  I'm not sure if your a bean fan but during this stage your taste buds are at its best and that got me through a many a day.  Towards your mashed potatoes.. add some flavors to it.. like chicken broth, maybe a little sprinkle of melted cheese. I'm with the majority on this one blend blend blend.  Good Luck!

so were you on only full liquids for 2 months following your surgery too?  I have tried blending different soups but guess I really should not being doing that either since I am not in the pureed stage yet.  I have not lost any more weight while in this phase. I am not sure if it because my body starved for so long on the liquids that is now holding on to everything I take in or if I am doing something wrong. My typical diet is slim fast for breakfast and lunch, an occ yogurt in between, and broth/soup, occ mashed sweet potaotes for supper . It is so frustrating to have lost so much in beginning and then have it come to complete stop now.

Let me think.. I had mine done on May 21.. was on clear liquids for a couple of days then I remember moving to the mushy stage in mid to late July so thats about right.  Don't forget your sf puddings/ sf jellos, In the early stages I couldn't handle sweet potatoes to well so I  had every type of mashed potato imaginable.  I would recommend you speak with the nutritionist on staff.  I would if I didnt live 3 1/2 hours away but sounds like you might be on a little plateau which is normal.  Another thing I enjoyed at a soup consistancy was Cambells Select Tomato Basil Soup its in a carton.  Plus I plended chili up.  Bush's homestyle chilli I'd add a little water to it till it was as a liquid added some hot sauce and was good to go.

Thanks again for your reply. I will try some of your recommendations. I have never met with a nutritionist EVER. I guess my doctor does not offer one. That would be helpful though.
