Hi all! I just wanted to post because I am so down in the dumps. I go back tomorrow for another drug test and hopefully get an appoitment to see the surgeon again soon. That isn't what I am depressed about. I am depressed and down because Christmas is just around the corner and I am struggling so bad to make ends meet that I probably won't be able to afford Christmas for my 2 kids. We lost our house back in April and been struggling ever since. I draw disability but of course isn't much. My son is 13 and he told me today when I took him to the dr he said "mom this is going to be the first Christmas that we might not get much if anything". Oh man I waited til I got home and went straight to the bathroom and cried...We have never had it this rough..If anyone knows of people/places that helps family please let me know...i may be able to get this something small but I don't want to see them hurt and down in the dumps like i am..I could use all the prayers yall could throw my way.. Thanks for letting me run my mouth... Sonya Mantachie MS

It is tough, and you just pray and persevere, and we'll pray with you!  But, be proactive, keep asking.  Contact churches.  Contact county health office, see if the State does something, maybe getting you on a list of organizations that give gifts to children of low income families ....Well, I'm not a lot of help, but wanted you to reach out in some way.  It's hard when kids notice these things, but they are tougher than you think. We were poor when I was a child, and there were some kinda short Christmases at our house too, but it was warm and comforting lots of love.   We all do well now, even my parents  (we were Army brats).   Believe me, it is probably harder on mom than the kids.  Big hugs - DeAnna

Hi!  May the Lord Bless you and keep you! God loves us all and in times of need or what we may perceive as a struggle God never fail.  God knows what you need when you need it.  Believe me, I have been in your shoes and God made a way.  I didn't know how I was going to pay my bills, feed my children, clothe them, or if we were going to have a roof over our heads.  We were literally one paycheck away from being homeless and hungry.  I begin to press my way to church, pray to the True and Living God, confess all my needs, wants adn desires, and I refuse to give the devil any glory by beign sad, depressed or down in the dumps.  The enemy (devil) wants to see you devasted and without hope.  He loves to see God's children sad and not prospering.  But God is great, his glory and mercy is everlasting.  His love is fullfulling and he never fails.  God can do all things but fail and lie.  Nothing is to hard for God or impossible.  In other words, turn your situation over to him, pray and leave it in his hands.  If you believe in God try him.  Test his word it will prove to be true.  God delivers in time of storm or rain.  He saved my family during Katrina and placed us in a better state (location, mind, job, and life) he can do it for you.  Christmas is not about the toys, presents, gifts, food, the tree or the lights.  The true spirit of Christmas is the rememberance of what our Lord and Saviour did for us.  He sent his only begotten son to us to save us from the sins of this wicked world so that we may have eternal life, peace and joy.  God is a way maker.  Teach your children about God, Jesus.  Believe me the gift that you give them will last longer than the material things that you can buy.  I have children also and of course as a mother I don't want my children to go without a gift.  The traditional aspect of Christmas brings that feeling to all parents at the same time you want to cherish the true spirit of God.  Maybe this Christmas you can try something different, that's giving your entire situation and turning your life over to Christ.  Again, if you don't take anything else from this reply please remember that Jesus Saves and he is the Light of the World and within his light he covers all those who love and trust in him.  The Bible says that God is rich and he will supply all our needs from his riches and glory.  Well if God said it he has to do it Right?  Right, because his word never lies.  There is a time and a season for all things.  This may be your season, ask God, patienly wait listening and hearing from him, and he will supply over and above your needs.  He did it for my family of 4.

So sorry you are having a tough time. One thing me and my kids do that is cheap is make cookies and cook neat things. They always love cupcakes too. Make a big deal out of it.  Also where is your town? What part of MS?  Just know we will think of you. We don't want our kids to do without but sometimes we just can't help it. Don't ever be without the necessities. There is help out there.  God bless Jane from Poplarville MS

Alot of police stations have things called Toys for Tots where they take the children to Wal-mart/K-mart... and let them get toys or whatever the choose. You might try contacting your local PD or Salvation Army. I am sorry times are rough for you all.
