Protein Drink Question
Should I be drinking protein drinks as a meal replacement, or should I add them to my diet? I have found a protein powder that has 50 gms of protein with only 3 or 0 carbs, depending on the flavor. Its called Isopure and I get it from GNC. I am scared that if I add it to my diet I will gain, but when I drink it asa meal replacement, I as soon starving.
Well, that all depends. How far out are you from surgery and what kind of surgery did you have? If you are at a point where you are able to eat enough protien and calories with food, then you shouldn't use the protein drink at all. Then you are just adding unnecessary calories. I was always under the assumption that protein drinks were only used in the very beginning when you aren't able to eat enough protein. I'd call the surgeons office and see what they recommend if I were you.
Hope this helps at least some. LOL ;-)
I had surgery on April 2. As faras how much I can eat it depends on how long since I had a fill. My wife had the surgery on the same day and she is having hair loss problems. It's hard to tell with me because I've had hair loss problems before surgery :) It sounds like you may be recomending that it be used as a meal replacement, and only right after a fill, but I will check with my doctor.
Aha! Then you are a bandster! I have no idea what the rules are for you guys. I'm an RNY gal myself. LOL
There are some other bandsters on this list. Maybe they'll speak up. Meanwhile, have you tried the lapband forum message board? You may get your answer faster that way.
