Cardiology Clearance

Good morning everyone!! Has anyone had to have cardiology clearance before they had surgery?  If so, what did it consist of?  I'm hoping it's just a doctor's visit and maybe an EKG.?? Tonya

I too will have to have cardiology clearance before I can have surgery.  I am having it due to the family history and my hypertension.  It may just be a history and physical, an EKG or it could involve a stress test depending on the cardiologist and his/her findings.

I had to have a cardiology approval but if you go to your doctor regular it will problay only be a visit and questions. I had a stint put in last year in sept. But he released me to have the surgery in fact he thought it was a great idea since I have diabetes and high blood pressure also.  sheila

II had to have a cardiology clearance. I  have hypertension and high cholesterol.    I too was anxious and even procrastinated having it done. I was very pleased at how easy it was. I sent over the results of my blood work which I had done early on for pre op, had a ekg in my cardiologists office, and then had my cardiologist listen to my breathing with a stethoscope.  He wrote “clear for  surgery " on a prescription pad and that was it.  David C
