Lap Band: Cleveland and Cummins

I would like to hear from some folks who had the lab band done by either Dr. Cleveland or Dr. Cummins. Thanks, ks

I am not sure about the lap band but I do know they are both great surgeons.  Dr Cleveland did my surgery over two years ago and I will always say that man saved my life in more ways than one.  I have nothing but respect for him and I have never heard anyone say anything bad about Dr Cummins either.  Good luck in your quest and keep us posted. Hey hun it is great to be seen we are doing fine.  I just never have time to get on here hardly any more I am working again and all so I am only home on weekends and I try t do all my hunny-do's then and spend time with the family.  I am -250 and in the best shape I have been in since I was a young kid I am actually in better shape now than when I was in high school. lol hope to see you all soon Barry

RNY here, but I do go to the support group meetings at CMMC and hear only great things about the surgery they do.  I had surgery elsewhere, but they still welcome me to the support meetings.... Good luck to you ! You're doing the right thing asking questions ! DeAnna

*Clears My Throat*   That would be me.  I had my band done by Dr. Cleveland.  Dr. Cummins was his assistant so they work hand in hand.  I'm on my way to my 2 month anniversary July 21st i've lost 40lbs and still dropping.  They take good care of you if you have any more questions feel free to send me a PM.  Peace and Blessings To You!

I used Dr. Cleveland for my RNY 2 years ago.  Wonderful surgeon, wonderful clinic!  We have several people in the support group who have had the lapband.  They are all very pleased.  I haven't heard a bad word about this group.   Our support group meets on the second Tuesday (next week) at 7pm at the clinic.  COME!  You'll meet several lapbanders as well as RNYers.  You can ask any and all questions and get a straight answer.  It's very informal and helpful!  ALL are welcome! Thanks for the invite!  I haven't attended a seminar with Cleveland but have with another doc.  Thought I would check out a couple of other doctors before I commit.  I live on the coast so I don't want to get too far from the doctor I choose. I can't catch the group this Tuesday, maybe the next if time permits! thanks! kim

Kim, If you are on the coast have you checked out the group in Ocean Spring and there is also a Dr in picayune.  I'm not sure if either of them do the band though.  Good luck and keep us posted. Cheryl
