Hi Everyone! Man have I been one sick little puppy!  Last Thursday (two weeks from being released from the hospital) I was back at the hospital with a high fever.  I had already contacted Dr. Cleveland about it twice, but had not gone into the hospital.  Well, everything they told me to do did not work, so I go in and they took one look at me and decided they better do a CT scan.  They found an abcess in my stomach.  No Leaks - just an abcess - but it sure was making me sick.  So after going to every department for them to get blood, more scans, etc., a doctor comes in and puts a drain into my stomach that gets to stay there until next Thursday.  The insertion of the drain was extremely painful - even with the drugs they gave me.  They removed over 200 ml of yuckiness.  With the drain and the antibiotics, I am feeling better, but still very weak.  I have missed reading all of the posts and hope to be back on my feet real soon. Good news - I have lost 30 pounds forever!!!!! Focusing on the positive,  Tracey

tracy, im sorry your sick, i hope you get better real soon. when they removed my lap band about a year ago i developed 2 weeks later a spenic abcess. lord help girl. i thought for sure i was dyeing. i was so so so sick. i will never forget it. it hurt worse then when i gave birth to my sons. i couldnt move even with a little jar. it would kill me and i would screem. took em a few days to find out what was wrong with me. finally they drained some yuk off my splein and i slowly got better and had to take meds for it. one of  my antibotics cost 2000 dollars for 28 pills. thank god with my insurance i only had to pay 30. they wouldnt release me from hospital until they found out that my ins. paid for that medicine. i was on 3 different antibotics while hosipitlized. im all better now and having gbs aug. 6th. good luck and take care of yourself.

oh wow Tracey---i'm so sorry that you're having troubles!  hope you're feeling better soon... do they think the abcess is directly related to the surgery itself?  or something that was lurking prior to surgery and just made itself known after-the-fact.? *hugs* to you! mary

There truly is nothing better than this board!  You guys are awesome!

I go back to the doc on Thursday and plan to ask a bunch of questions.  I could not think the other day when I was in such pain, but the brain has returned and the questions are many!!!  I do remember Dr. Cleveland saying in all of his cases, he has never seen this happen - I told him to leave it up to me to be the anomaly!  If it is weird, it will happen to me!  I hope the removal of the drain is alot less painful than the insertion! I actually got to eat food today - not alot mind you, but real food.  Not just the pureed stuff or liquids.  Body handled it fine.  Yippee!!!!!!!!!\

Well, I will keep you posted, thanks again for all the warming thoughts, Still focusing on the positive!  Tracey

The drain should not be bad to remove.  Don't worry!  ;-)  I'm so sorry you have had this complication!  YUK YUK YUK!  Glad to know you are home and doing well now.
HUGS!!
