Hello! I have been lurking for a while and today I decided to post and introduce myself.  My name is Amanda and I live in Philadelphia,MS.  I have spoken to two clinics about the surgery and I think I have decided to go with Dr. Carroll.  I am self pay since MAS said no way Jose!!  My first appt is August 13 since I am out of pocket most of July.  This kinda bums me out but my goal is the be patient with this procedure.  Anyway, here I am glad to meet yall! Hi Amanda, and welcome.  I wish you the very best of luck in your journey.  I was also a self pay for surgery and found things to move much more quickly than if I would have had to waited on Insurance approval.  This is a great group of women with a wealth of knowledge around here.  We move kinda slow as far as posting around here lately but hopefully things will turn around soon and we will pick up again.  Welcome again!!! Hey Mary, I am doing WONDERFUL!  I just turned 5 months this past sunday.  So I am halfway there.  I am getting very very excited and scared.  lol lol  Me and my mom are going to register this weekend at toys r us, target and the mart and I am very excited about that although very overwhelmed.  This baby business sure envoles alot.  ha haa NEVER thought that at 39 yearl old women would have that much trouble on doing a registre.  lol lol  Thanks so much for the well wishes!  Oh I do go for my ultrasound on July 5th altough we are not going to find out what it is.  We figured we waited 12 years for this baby and why ruin the surprise.  lol lol  I promise to keep everyone up to date.  You take care! Love ya Denise

Hey there Amanda. :)  welcome to the board.  I'm a Dr. Carroll patient--had revision to Roux-N-Y Feb. 2006 and lost 120 pounds..  I just had some extensive plastics to get rid of extra skin leftover...so I'm thrilled to be this far in my journey--but trust me, time will go by so quickly once you get on the road.  August isn't that far away. good luck to you!  don't hesitate to post or contact me if i can be helpful.  i love to chat.  mary

Thanks guys!  I am wondering how long it is going to take to have the surgery after the initial visit.  Anyone have any idea? Amanda

well most of it depends on his surgery schedule--how many openings are available...and then also if you're self-pay vs. insurance.  I was self-pay and was able to schedule within a couple of weeks of my appt.  wasn't really that much to setting it up. good luck! mary
