Hi Yall,  I'm almost a year out from my RNY and have lost 139 lbs. Down from 318 to 179, never thought that would ever happen and know that it wouldn't have without the surgery.  It is just amazing the amount of energy I have now.  Went to the water park this weekend and rode all the rides, something i never would have done a year ago. My kids are so proud of me and my eldest daughter is starting to work out more because we are wearing the same size and she thinks that isn't right for her at 24.  Had to laugh at her.  Hope this really gets this board going again. Hi Ladies, Well I will be three years out Aug of this year.  I went from a size 30/32 to a 14/16.  I started at 319 and got down to 182'ish.  I am currently 197 as I am 4 1/2 months pg after trying for over 10 years to become pg woo hoo me.  lol lol  I am doing WONDERFUL and have had NO problems what so ever with this pg.  I like Melissa feel like I struggle on a daily basis with food issues but have better learned to deal with them.  As Melissa stated the surgery is on your stomach not your head.   Denise

Hi! I am currently Pre-Op with my surgery date of 06/11/2007!!!!!   :jump: I am so excited about the upcoming surgery - but nervous too.  I enjoy reading the profiles and sharing this journey with everyone. I will say however, this pre op diet of slimfast is not easy.........and that stuff is just not very good.  Last night I decided that I needed more than just vanilla flavor so I added coconut and pineapple flavoring and blended it with ice - it almost tasted like a pina colada and was uch easier to get down. I am ready to be on the losing side........ focusing on the positive,  Tracey

Thanks everybody who chimed in.  I have enjoyed reading everyone's responses.  Good luck to those who are about to have the surgery, and to those who have just had it done, enjoy the ride.   Melissa

I'm still pre-op. Waiting on things to get going at keesler.. I've seen Dr. Dolan he's approved me, he said he thought I was a good canidate for surgery. I've got my appt with the Nut. on the 27 and fiting with referal management/tricare to get my psyh. appt. They've closed Life Skills (Psyh. on base) to only active duty, so I'm having to go off base. The lady at referral management is being great about everthing, and resubmented everything to tricare and if we don't hear anything by next Tuesday afternoon we are to call her. so hopefully something will get worked out. I'm hoping for surgery in July but the way things are going it will prolly be in August.

April*   Post-op!!! RNY 9-6-07!!

I'm coming up on 5 months out, I'm down 95 lbs. I still have over 150 lbs to go, which seems overwhelming to me. Some days I feel like I will never get there. Anyhoo, no complications so far, knock on wood. I live out in the boonies, so all my exercise gets done at the house, though I'd love to be able to go to the gym everyday. Sometimes I miss city life, but only sometimes.  I use an exercise ball, some weights, and I walk a good bit. I feel MUCH better and I'm going back to school this fall. I'm getting a free ride on a marching band scholarship, which is something I would have NEVER been able to do if I hadn't lost weight.

One of you mentioned having rashes under your panni.   A few years before I had my RNY I had lost around 40 pounds and had skin hanging down in front which I eventually had cut off.  I had rashes, too.  However - this is going to sound wierd but I swear it worked - I found that I could get rid of the rash by slathering it in plain, unsweetened, unfruited actively-cultured yogurt.  I'd rub it on there at night, then the next day the rash would be gone (of course, I took a bath the next morning).  I think the little beasties in the yogurt ate the yeast or whatever was causing the rash.  (I suppose cultured buttermilk would work, too.)  Anyway, I sleep alone (alas) (well, ok, if you don't count cats), so I didn't have to worry about a husband's getting grossed out.  I suppose if you do have a sleeping partner you could rub it on the rash, then cover it with a bandage or something.   I'm about 5 weeks out and exercising and doing well, btw.   Take care.  Love this forum. Ok time for the Bear report lol.  I am now over 2 years post-op.  I have lost around 250 lbs and who knows how many inches now.  Need to go see a Plastic surgeon soon to remove the rolls of skin.  I am back working after being on disabilty due to weight probs for over 4 years.  I am a Truck Driver and I pull a flat bed trailer and climb all over the loads and on the trailer two to three times a day and I lvoe it.  I can do all sorts of things I ahvent done in so many years I cant remember when I did them last.  My wife says I am not the same person she met 7 years ago I am better.  I have more energy now than I have had since I was a teenager.  And am not sure I had this much then since I was a smoking teen and am not a smoking bear now lol.  Ok just wanted to let all of you know I am ALIVE and kicking it all over the south in a BigRig.
