Progress Report...or should I say "No Progress"
My wife and I had lap-band surgery on April 2 and I am down 50 lbs. My wife is down 22 lbs and says she is sick of me, but I started cutting back on my carbs as soon as I found out that we would have to go on a clear liquid diet two weeks before surgery and lost 12 lbs before we even started. I lost another 38 lbs in the two weeks before and the two weeks after surgery. Pam lost her 22 lbs in this same time, but as soon as we started back on regular foods we both quit losing any weight. The main reason I think that I have lost more weight than Pam is the fact that I had a lot more weight to lose, but that doesn't explain the fact that we both stopped losing. Is this normal? If not, what could we be doing wrong?
It is quite normal to hit a plateu at this stage. Your body is just catching up. As long as you are following all the rules you will continue to lose. Don't worry! The first year is such a rollercoaster with the WL.
I have found that men just lose faster than women. It's just a cold hard fact of life. So tell Pam not to keep score between the two of you. It's not fair to herself and she will drive herself nuts!
Keep us posted!
