OT: Flying with a youngin!
I need some info, advice and suggestions. My 2 year old son and I are flying out next month to see my sister in Texas. I have flown a few times, but he hasn't. I'm new to flying with a youngin anyway. I need some suggestions or something to help make it a good flight. He is 2, almost 3, so I am having to buy an adult ticket for him so he can have his own seat. Which means I'll have to take along a car seat, right? What else???
Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Check out:

It's the Federal Aviation Administration website that deals with traveling with children...
Just a few things to keep in mind -
-Be prepared to get there early, because with a youngster, time through security, boarding, etc. will be increased. Getting there earlier rather than later will help reduce the stress you and your son will experience due to travel.
-Have a few favorite toys, particularly books, ready to keep your son entertained during the flight.
-Have snacks ready - small foods he can grasp and eat easily, such as dry cereal. Also, a liquid - but be aware that due to security regulations, there is a limit to the amount of liquid you can pass through security with - I don't have children (I just fly almost every month), so I'm not 100% on the amount - check with your airline prior to the date of departure (One suggestion might be to have his bottle/sippy cup/etc. empty - and after you pass through security, stop at one of the booths/stores and pick up a bottle of juice to take on the plane with you).
-He may cry during take off/landing - as odd as it sounds, it's very good for him. It helps clear the tubes in his ears caused by the changes in altitude.
Those are the first things I can think of off the top of my head, but I wish you luck!
