I'm new to the site and haven't figured out how to use it yet, but I need help. I had LB surgery 4 days ago and have been so tired since I came home - what's wrong?

If your getting your fluids, walking then probably its recovery time. Some people take longer to recover then others, this is a healing time make sure your getting your liquids.

Thanks, I called my doc yesterday and she said basically the same thing - keep up the fluids and proteins and give it time. She also said I may be trying to do too much, so I've taken her advice and settled down. Hope things change soon - sitting in the house is not really for me!. Appreciate your response.

I am 99.9% sure you are just hitting that surgery fatigue. Give it 2 weeks. Talk to your doc about it at your checkup, but I'm sure that's all it is. Concentrate on the fluids as previously stated, and try to get as much protein as you can. Not sure what you can eat yet since I'm not a bander, but Kroger has a wonderful carb freedom yogurt that has about 12-14 grams of protein, maybe even higher. Also, Blue Bunny makes a smoothie (have only found it at wal-mart) that has something like 18 grams of protein. Carnation instant breakfast, sugar free of course, isn't a bad choice either. Hang in there -- it's only been 4 days! You'll be ok! When is your follow up with the doc? Keep us posted! HUGS Kimberly

Thanks, I seem to be getting the same advice - including from doc. I have to be more patient, but my first thoughts were "Oh Lord, what have I done to myself". I hate feeling so weak and tired all the time. But I've noticed that when I take in juices and soups, the feeling lets up right away. I just have to be careful to space everything out. I don't have to return for a check up unil 6 weeks, unless there are problems of course. Pray for me and wish me well. Thanks again. Ann
