7 years post-op...severe pain in upper abdomen, under ribs...

Hi, Due to severe bone pain that developed almost a year ago, I have been taking WAY too much tylenol. I also have a scrip for Hydrocodone, and take up to 8 of those a day...I am allowed that much, but in between, if I hurt too much, I take the tylenol. When they ran blood test to see what caused the pain, the didn't discover much. I am very anemic, very B12 deficient, I tend to get dehydrated...and seems like there was a few other minor things. I've read that B12 defeciency can cause bone pain. Anyhoo...so, I knew better than to take too much medicine, but I've lived a pretty blessed existance and I guess I didn't think anything bad would really happen to me. Up until this point you could never get me to take a pill hardly. Including, unfortunately, the vitamins I was supposed to take, the b12, etc. It's not funny, I have no excuse. Sometimes I wonder if it's just my self-destructive mentality. Once the bone pain started it got so I couldn't sleep and I was taking 2-3 tylenol every 3 hours....along with the 7.5 hydrocodone. None of it completely takes the pain away, but it definitely makes it more livable where I can at least take care of my 5 kids, work, and sleep... Three days ago I woke up with a stabbing pain in my rib cage. Like, right under and below the ribs..feels like someone just punched me hard in the gut. I think I can feel a slight solidness that feels like a possible swollen liver? I just can't decide what is wrong with me. I don't know if my liver is damaged from all of the acemetiphen or if I have hurt my incision sight...developed a hernia, tear, whatever...because the pain starts about an inch above the incision. (I had an Route-En-Y gastric bypass, with the long incision.) So, I guess I am asking if this pain sounds familiar to any of you old timers? Does it sound like something that is from complications from gastric bypass? I am posting on other boards about the liver. I have rotten insurance and don't want to go to the doctor right now if I don't have to.I have completely stopped the tylenol the last few days, but still am taking 6 hydrocodone. Otherwise, the pain is unbearable. I am taking milk thistle to heal the liver, and drinking lemon water to flu**** Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. And please don't judge me too harshly for the stupidity I showed in taking all the tylenol. I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but you never know what you will do when you have so much pain. ;) Thanks in advance, Christy M P.S>.....I started at 380, bottomed out at 195, and and have had a baby since then and stay around 215.

I have not experienced pain like this, but there is someone who just posted on the WEIGHT LOSS GRAD board, with a problem with pain that turned out to be adhesions and had emergency surgery, so my advice to you is that if there is pain, you SHOULD talk to your doctor. Go over and read on the weight loss grad board, and maybe post your problem there too. That is a great site with lots of good advice..... DeAnna

the pain in your rib cage... do you still have your gallbladder? That is the kind of pain I had before I had mine taken out. Do you take your calcium? That might help. You should see a doctor though as none of us have MD behind our names. This could really be something serious. I have been in the medical field since 1989 when you are in pain it is your body telling you that something is wrong. Please see a doctor. Think of you kiddos if nothing else. Good luck let us know what your diagnosis is. Amy
