Doc Question

Has anyone had any experiences with Dr. Avara in Ocean Springs i'm researching Surgeons and need a little help. Also, I'm going the self-pay route and I know each location/Doc is different in prices but could you share with me the prices of Lap-Band and RNY. Thanks Yall for your help. I think I have a new wind finally to reach my goal.

I will have the lap r-n-y by Dr.Michael King of the Oxford , Ms in early April. You can call Becky Wilson at the weight loss center at 1-800-976-5589. She can give you all the info and answer most question. She is very nice but she usually will have to call you back so just leave message on her machine. I don't know the exact charge since my ins will pay most of surgery but I have to pay deducable and $800.00 before they will do any surgery. She said this should be all I will owe after ins pays. Hope you can get wls surgery worked out , it to me 9 months to get my package all togather and approved by ins. Becky can help you with finance question also. KEEP THE FAITH THE GOAL IS WORTH TROUBLE!!

Hi Myrtis, My wife and I were also approved for the lap band on April 2nd by Dr. Michael King in Oxford Miss. We both are doing this together for health reasons and are there for each other for moral support but we are on day 5 of our "super" slimfast and broth liquid diet. We are STARVING!!!! How are you doing on the liquid diet??? We have been fathfully sticking to the diet but its so hard. Any advice ? Good Luck !!!!! Carl and Pam Scroggins

Dr. Avara did my surgery and I think he is the greatest. Contact Lisa Branam or Darla Edwards at Dr. Avara's office and they can provide the self-pay cost. I want to say the cash price for Lap RNY is 15,000 but I'm not sure (I may be thinking about CMMC in Jackson). My surgery was uneventful and I have not had any surgery-related problems. Of course there was the one time in October when I didn't chew some chicken well and about 2 hrs later I thought I was dying. Finally I threw up and all was well. Good luck!!! Pam

Dr. Avara did my surgery also. I had the Lap R&Y in August of last year. I haven't had any problems what-so-ever. Dr. Avara and his staff are awsome! I have already recommended 2 others to him that are going to have the surgery very soon. One is having the lap band and the other Gastric bypass Lap R&Y. As far as self pay, I'm not sure about prices, my insurance paid. I do know that the total cost without my insurance for the R&Y would have been around 50K! I thank God everyday for Dr. Avara and his staff for allowing them to give me the gift of life back! Good Luck!
