meeting yesterday

I actually made it to the meeting at CMMC last night, and it was wonderful. Just a lovely bunch of folks. There is a meeting at 5:30 with postop patients with Dr. Hawks beforehand that is just super. She has some really great techniques and suggestions to overcome bad habits/old temptations, etc. I loved it, and was so blessed to have been able to attend. Love to you guys and gals - DeAnna

I am jealous. I wish we had a post op group too. Shoot, I just wish we had a decent group period. Hattiesburg used to have a great support group, but it has dwindled down to nothing. They don't have guest speakers to deal with any issues or anything. It just isn't beneficial anymore. And I hate that because we need good support after this surgery and forever to deal with issues that come in later. I am glad you enjoyed the meeting and so glad you got lots from it. That is great. If it wasn't so far, I would just have to come to your meetings. Talk to ya later, Melissa

I totally agree! The meeting was wonderful. I missed Dr Hawks meeting last night but made it to the support group. I enjoyed the new format. Really good things happening there! I enjoyed seeing everyone, and meeting a ton of new folks! HUGS Kimberly

Please elaborate on the "new format" ....

Dealt with business very quickly, then went on to the speaker, then we break into smaller groups according to surgery type and/or how far out you are. I loved it! Pre-ops had a small group too. We also had a mingle time where we had to find someone we didn't know, find out what we could about them and instead of introducing ourselves, we had to introduce them. It was fun! Missed YOU!!! How's married life treating you? Got him whipped into shape yet? LOL Where's Meghan? I haven't talked to her in a while. I was hoping she'd be at the meeting last night, but she wasn't. ;-( HUGS K

Hi DeAnna, I have been looking for a support group in the area and have not found one yet. When I saw your post I was thrilled to know that one is so close. When is the next meeting and where? I am 2 1/2 months out and would really like to be involved with some good folks who have been where I am. Thank you so much. Dianne

Hey, welcome "on board" .....I am almost 4 years out, and WISH I had started going to the meetings from the beginning, so by all means come ! The meeting at CMMC is the 2nd Tuesday every month. The main meeting is at 7:00 PM. As above, there is a really good meeting at 5:30 for postop patients with a psychologist (I believe that is her title), Dr. Hawks, and it is REALLY wonderful. If you want, you can e-mail me and give me a call, and sometimes some of us get together and ride there.
