I am wondering what are some of the set backs of the gastric bypass sx? Was anyone else scared? I am excited but really scared.

Amy... I experienced a run of ALL emotions before surgery. It's normal. It's a scary idea once it all sinks in that it's really going to happen. Once you get the date all you have to do is sit around and wait... and think. It drove me nuts! LOL I spent so much time before approval trying to just get to that point! Then it was set in stone and there was nothing left to do but wait. You hang in there! Feel free to ask anything you need to, we are here for you! HUGS Kimberly

Thank you Kimberly I am glad that I am not the only one. Did you have a problem with craving foods or wanting food after your surgery? My surgeon said he can fix my stomach but not my head. lol. Would be great if he could. How long has it been since you had your surgery? Talk to you later. Amy

Amy, Immediately after surgery I had absolutely NO problem with wanting anything. My "rush" came from watching the scales move. You will also just not be hungry. Best advice I can give... just stay away from sugar. After surgery your body detoxes of all the crap and your tastes will change. In the first six months find something that gives you your pleasure from food. For me it is cottage cheese over Naval oranges. mmmmmmmmm Better than ice cream! Once I started tempting fate and eating the wrong things again, it became a daily battle. I am almost 19 months out. Sugar is poison to my body. I have severe blood sugar dumping issues when I eat it. Do I eat it sometimes? Yep.... and kick myself everytime. LOL The best thing though is that this surgery broke me. It gave me back my freedom. I no longer feel like a prisoner to food. It truly was an addiction for me. Who is your surgeon? HUGS Kimberly
