Looking for Information

Hello - I have been researching lap-band surgery for quite some time and attended a seminar in Southaven, MS last year. I am about 70 lbs overweight and have tried everything for the last 5 yrs. Is there anyone who has had surgery at less than 100 lbs overweight? I have so many questions! Any help is appreciated!

Welcome "on board" (pun intended - ha)....There are a few posters on here who have had lap band, somewhat light weights who have done very well with, and maybe one who had a lap band, then had a revision to a RNY because of weight gain after time....so, maybe they will post and let you know the ups and downs. Hi DeAnna, thanks for your reply. I see that you are in Brandon (my sister lives there - on the reservoir) and I always enjoy going to visit there. So you came to Oxford to see Dr. King for your surgery? I attended his seminar in Southaven last year and was impressed with him. Yes, I do hope to get more information on the lapband. I have been researching this issue for over a year now and at first was very put off by it. As time goes by and my waistline & butt continue to expand, I am seriously looking at it. It will be a major step and I want to be as sure as I can be before proceeding.

We live at Castlewoods which is near the reservoir, just moved from Audubon which is on the reservoir. I did go to Dr. King for surgery, but before I moved here I lived in Senatobia, and had already gotten to know them, so I drove from here to have surgery. I no longer go there for follow ups, it's just too far. They were great, his staff is wonderful, and the hospital has the best care. Have you checked out the "lap band forum" on this site? DeAnna
