Did anyone have United Health Care when you got approved ????

I want to no what all UHC requires for approval of Gastric Bypass Surgery. Do they require a 6 months supervised weight loss before approval. ( See my husband started a new an this new insurance is UHC which start on february 1, 2007, i cant get information about the coverage online or my phone because we want get our ID cards until the end of January 2007, and I really would like to no your experience with UHC. Please Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Unless they have changed their poilcy I did not have to have six months Dr. Supv. Weight loss. But my doc did have to write a letter of medical necessity and I had to go through a ton of tests, you name it, I did it, sleep study, cardio stress test, ulcer test, drug and alcohol test,psyc. Eval. But it was totally worth it! I lost over 120 pounds this past year. And I feel like a million bucks!! Crystal

I forgot to add that I did have to do a six month weigh****chers plan with doc supervision for blue cross blue sheild of alabama, (my hubby's ins.) I had two insurances when I had my surgery, mine (united healthcare ) which was my primary and my secondary which was hubby's bcbs of al. But for my primary, it wasn't near the hassle that bcbs of al was. Crystal

My UHC begins in January, and I was told that no diet is required, but you do have to have a 5 year history of BMI > 40, regardless of co-morbidities.
