I have a date

So far, it's going to be January 10th. I've a question. What is an angel and should I have one?

Congrats Tara!! An angel is someone that will be there for you through your journey of WLS. They will be there when you have questions about what to eat and not to eat. I had an angel and she was wonderful!! She came to my house and met my parents and son. She was able to answer the questions that they had. She also told them her story how much she weighed before and now. It was a great experience for me and my parents, who were alittle bit scared. I became an angel for someone 2 months after my surgery. I helped as much as I could being that I was so new out of surgery. I would highly recommend it, if you're up to it. Karine

Karine was a wonderful angel, right down to letting me in on how freakin' horrid the bowel prep would be. I still gag just thinking about it but frankly, knowing that it was going to be horrible made it bearable. Yeah, I know, I'm a little warped. Find someone amongst us that fits you. Karine is a bit warped herself therefore was a great fit for me....*ducking* Meghan and hoping Karine doesn't hurt me....

About the bowel prep...Meghan.. That's what I tell everybody... If death had a flavor it would be sodium phosphate soda im gagging just thinking about that horrible stuff.. They made me drink it twice!! Yuck!! My best advice for anyone drinking that is get it very cold and turn it up and guzzle as much as you can. Crystal

Thanks! So how do I go about getting one? Do I put out an ad? Hmmm.... I guess I'm looking for somebody around Brookhaven or Pearl. I'm around those parts a good bit. I'm 23, pretty easy going, shy and quiet. I've no real preferences as far as age or gender or anything like that. So, if anybody is up for being an angel, let me know.

Tara, where are you having your surgery? If you're having it at CMMC, then Adam will give you a form to fill out with whatever preferences you might have and then once that is done, you'll be assigned an angel. Any other place, I am not sure. Karine

Hey, I'll be having surgery in Baton Rouge with Dr. Hargroder. They didn't mention an angel, but did say they'd set me up with a support group in MS post-op.

Yeah, I read your profile after I posted that message. If you come to the CMMC support group (2nd Tuesday of each month), I'm sure we can set you up with an angel from the group. I had my surgery at CMMC, but I believe there are lots of people there that didn't have their surgery at CMMC.
