Who has UHC?

I am still waiting on approval from my current insurance carrier, BCBS. I'm afraid I won't be approved, at least not by year end. My insurance will change to UHC at the end of year. I had asked about their coverage and was told that I would have to have been obese for 5 years according the medical records. I have not been over 40 BMI for that long. Does anyone have UHC? How strict are they with the 5 year thing? If you have co-morbities, do they override the 5 year thing?

I don't mean being accepted for health coverage, I mean being accepted/approved for lap band surgery.

I know someone that just had RNY at CMMC in Jackson that has UHC insurance. You need to make sure that the procedure is covered on the policy. Cheryl

i have UHC and I was advised that they will cover 90% of the lap band and I would assume about the same for by pass

I have UHC and am waiting on their approval also. One other thing to consider is if you have obese related diseases such as diabetes or high blood pressure, I don't think your BMI has to be as high. GOOD LUCK!

Have UHC...just be sure you get a documented 6mos doctor supervised diet. All they want is to see that you can lose weight...even though you cant keep it off. All the above you state you need...5 ys overweight and if you have 2 or comorbities and a present 40+BMI..good luck and let me know!
