Just started my journey

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum. I have just started my WLS journey. I am researching physicians that take United Healthcare. Right now the only one that I have located that accepts United HealthCare and goes to a hospital that accepts UHC is Dr.Daniel Scott in New Orleans. The hospital is Tulane. Does anyone have info on either?

Hi Angela, Welcome to the forum. You didn't say if you're from Mississippi. Unfortunately, I know nothing about Dr. Scott or Tulane. However, if you're looking for a lap-band surgeon in Mississippi that accepts your insurance, I may be able to provide some info. My lap-band surgeon in Jackson accepts United Healthcare and as far as his office knows River Oaks Hospital in Jackson also accepts United Healthcare. His name and number follows. :-$ Thanks for the welcome. I am from Gulfport MS. But there are not any providers in this area that go to a HCA facility and accepts United HealthCare. Since my original posting I found out Dr.Scott is no longer in N.O. I left a message with what I thought was his office only to discover he is no longer in N.O.and there are not any bariatric surgery practices there since Katrina. However, I have been lead to Dr.Lavin in Covington LA. He performs surgery at a participating hospital with my insurance and his office is submitting a "gap request" to my insurance to pay him in network benefits. Who knows how long that will take. I look forward to sharing more in the future and getting to know you guys.
