First Appointment with Dr. Salameh.....
Well, I finally met my surgeon, Dr. Salameh, yesterday. My appointment went heavenly......for the first time during this process. I've been at it since Feb. and the other place I dealt with nearly sent me into a nervous breakdown (some of you know the story). He was sooooo nice and positive. He said that I was a perfect candidate for the surgery and that i'd done most of the testing already. He didn't see any reason why we couldn't move forward.
So yesterday I had to take a Pulmonary Test, a Arterial Blood Gases test
(tests for % oxygen and % carbon dioxide in my blood), and a fasting
lipids blood test.
Next, I have to go back in 3 weeks and take a medical evaluation and a
nut. class, which is the last step before I get a surgery date.
A couple of weeks after that they will call me with all the results and
schedule me with an appointment to come up and have the pre-op tests
done and give me my surgery date. (I think I understood him correctly) So I should have the surgery at the least 2 months..............the most, at the beginning of the New Year.
Could someone tell me what goes on at the Medical Evaluation testing?
It's all looking up.
hi brandi, i did my eval. at the medical mall, probably you are too. what they do is go over all your previous test, records etc... tell you what to expect, decide if you need psycho. testing (you may have already, i did it ahead of time before i saw dr. s.) you will probly' meet dr. lo and maybe the nutritionist, she gave me a test on nutrition to see if i needed the classes, you may briefly meet dr.mixon. anyway, after all that, they take everything before the board to decide if you are indeed a good candicate for wls, i'm sure you know by now it is time consuming, just hang in there. hope i was clear enough.
I love Dr. SAL. I found him to be super. He is very caring and supportive.
He did my hernia(s) repair and put me in touch with plastic surgeon friend to remove pannis and breast lift at the same time to save money.
I think the med eval is the final blood test and meeting w anesthia (sp). I could be wrong.
