I'd like to hear everyone's story about eating peanuts. Salted peanuts that is... I'm just looking for ways to get more protein in because lately I've been so tired and have no energy and most of the time I feel like crap! Karine

At 6 weeks post op there is no way I would try peanuts. Especially salty ones. I am able to eat peanut butter. Usually each day I eat 2 peanut butter crackers (4 crackers total) or two Nabs. I have found that spicy, salty, peppery irritates my pouch. I can't even eat tomato based foods. Get your protein in ! Go walking. Yesterday I was so mad at two of my 4 sons I went walking at 4:40, in 96 degree weather, and had walked 1.7 miles in 28 minutes. New walking shoes and lots of water, protein drinks from GNC and protein balls gets me where I need to be each day. I don't know what I would do without the protein balls !! Cheryl

My doctor's office required us to attend a training session, and one of the things I remember Lisa saying was stay away from nuts. She said even though they have protein, they're high in fat and calories. Peanut butter with a low sugar content is ok. Pam

I do like peanuts and peanut butter. I usually eat the ones in the shell, cause you eat less when you have to shell them first! LOL! They also are less oily, but if you are not too greedy, I think that they are a good way to get protein, particularly when you are having a hard time with meats. I still cannot stand Tuna or chicken salad, even a year out! A spoonful of peanut butter on a piece of bread, folded over makes a nice snack and the calories are fairly low. It also makes you feel full and therefore not as easy to find another snack. I also like V-8 juice. It is low in calories, high in vitamins and cuts the hunger. I can handle it better than juice, which still gives me tummy aches. Have you been doing two vitamins a day? One in am and other in PM? Also the B-12 sublingual? I sometimes do an extra B-12 if I am feeling crappy. After a couple of days, I perk up a bit. Cheryl

It was a good 2-3 months out before my doc released me to eat nuts, but you can ask Kim, I lived on pastachio (sp) nuts as I could not eat chicken (got stuck) or eggs (hate them - but only after surgery). But did wait until doc said it was okay...D.
