Update on things in Hong Kong
Hi everybody,
It has been a while since I posted, so many things happened over the summer when I was home and have returned, that I decided to just post and let everyone know what has been going on.
After our lunch bash, which was wonderful!!!! I had a crew of men who only spoke Spanish to come in and paint my house inside and out. That was a wild 3 days but my house looks beautiful and we are now ready to move everything in when we ship our stuff home from Hong Kong.
Just after the painting episode, my husband was hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer and lost over a liter of blood before they could stop it. He almost died. I wanted to come home but he wanted me to stay and finish all so that we would be ready to come home.
About a week before I was to leave, he took a tumble down the stairs and jammed his hand. After I got home, and had a good look at his hand, we had an xray done and he had broken two bones in his right hand! Not good!!!!
We also made an appointment for a test since they found an unusual mass in his deuodenum. We went to the hospital and they put him to sleep and did a scope and MRI locally, I watched the whole thing....... He has a growth in the dueodenum wall, about the size of a golf ball. It is protruding into the inside and about half of the tube is blocked already. We then went to the surgeon and he will have to do a type of gastric bypass surgery on him to remove the growth which is not cancerous. His surgery is Sept 12th.
I will be with him for a few days and hopefully he will do ok with the surgery. He will not lose any stomach capacity, but will be on the same diet we were on when we had WLS. He is very afraid at this time and worried. He also wanted to go home to visit his family before surgery. So he went up a few days before me and I flew to Shanghai over the weekend to be with him. So far so good.
This is going to take a lot of juggling, school has begun and everything so so busy. Just say a little prayer for me over the next few days and wish us well thru this crisis.
I am doing well and still losing a year on. Now down to a size 12, I think I am through but my body does not think so. I think I look good enough and am eating but we will see if more comes off. Being that I now have one pair of pants which are the right size, it is back to the drawing board again, for another clothes buying trip. I am really ok with this weight and would like to stay at this but we will see what is next....
Miss you all, let me hear from you!
Cheryl
So wonderful to hear from you! I hope this is a quick year for you and your husband, so the both of you can get home to MS and relax....Maybe that will settle him down a bit - LOL.
Seriously, I am so thankful that the growth is not cancerous, and will be praying that the surgery goes well for him and he will be at peace with the outcome with no complications from surgery.
Miss you too...D.
Thanks! Looking forward to the time when we can get back togather! We had a great time at the lunch, so much fun, and I am still up for a trip to Mexico, or at the very least, San Antonio. They have a great flea market there!
I know that the next few weeks will be a struggle. But I am hopeful that it will be a smooth situation since Don is in good health otherwise. I told him to take heart in the fact that lots of people come thru WLS with very serious health problems so he should go thru this gastric procedure better than most cause he is very healthy.

Thanks Becky and Kim! I really hope that this will be smooth sailing for Don. He is afraid, and as we all know who have been thru Gastric, not a walk in the park for anyone! Good thing for him is that he will not have the tummy limiting problem that we had to adjust to, so maybe things will be smoother for him. I just hope that he does not throw up a lot, that is so tough! The surgery will be on the 12th and I will post when I know how he came thru it all.

Man, let's just put these old falling apart husbands in a box and ship them to Anartica! I am so sorry to hear about your hubby's problems. Tell him we love him almost as much as we do you and will think of him often!
smoochies
