Hi everyone, Well I go tuesday for pre-op and to set surgery date. Waited along time for this, getting kinda scared though. I guess that is natural. Hope so anyway. Need advice on things to take to the hospital when I go for surgery. I haven't a clue what to I will need besides gown, house shoes, house coat and of course the basic things. I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone has Thanks again

A pillow for the ride home. Put it underneath the seatbelt. Use a small ( 18 inch maybe, a throw pillow from your bed or sofa.) It will protect your tummy from jigglng and the seatbelt from hurting. a notebook and pen for calls, visitors, and questions for Drs. and nurses Baby wipes. chapstick timer Also a hint for recovery at home. I used this technique and found it very helpful in getting out of bed. Place a small strong towel in your bed when you lie down. Underneath your behind. When you start to get up, swing you feet around and place at least one on the floor. Bend elbows and grab the towel to help you pull up. Pull on the towel to help you sit upright. As you sit up, change the position of your hands on towel and lift your upper body. you wil be twisting the towel somewhat. Try this before surgery to get the idea---when you are not stitched up. glenda

Chapstick is #1, your lips will be VERY dry. The hospital will provide you with most essentials. Best wishes. Rhonda

I had surgery about 2 & half hours away from home, but I still only took a smallish bag with my own house shoes and a thin robe of my own. Chapstick, brush, toothbru**** has been 3 years, so if I packed anything else I do not remember, BUT those are the only things I actually used at the hospital I do remember that..... Good luck, and just get it in your head now that after surgery when they tell you you can get up and walking, to do it as much as they will let you. That is one thing that will help you feel better faster, no matter how sore you are... DeAnna.

You might want to bring some socks, my feet were so cold after surgery and they keep the hospital rooms very cold. Of course, I was hot, cold, hot, cold, hot , cold.... you get the picture! Good luck to you! You are joining a crew of very skinny post surgery cuties like Gran Jan, Becky and little ole me! Welcome to our part of the country!!!!! Good good luck!!!! Cheryl
