I was pretty out of it so I think I had everything I could wish for at the hospital. The best thing I took with me was my hubby! He was so helpful to me!!! I strongly recommend having someone there with you to be your advocate with the hospital staff. Hugs, Danielle

I second that... no matter what hospital, you need your own personal advocate. Most hospitals I know are so understaffed. They do the best they can, but having someone with the strength to raise a little hell when needed is the BEST thing you can do for yourself. And slippers... for the walking! HUGS Kimberly

I second that.... having a hubby/ support person there most of the time. Those nurses are taking care of so many folks, they'll make u wait if you need to get up to go to the bathroom, so yeah.. it IS imperative to bring someone along. Most of the time u get a room with a big pullout chair or even a private room ( mine had a couch and I made hubby sleep on it !! hehe ) so you can keep this person around you. They can also help you get up and walk around or run get you some ice chips etc. To go home, bring something VERY comfortable that is very loose fitting.

Oh well... Because my hubby just started a new job on May 1st. He doesn't have enough leave to stay w/me all the time. He'll be there all day Tuesday and he has to go back work on Wednesday. My mom will be here, but she is coming to take care of my son for me. All of my friends work full time, so I'm sorta outta luck there. Guess if I need to, I'l have to be a b**ch to get want I need from the nurses. Andie, you know me, I can be one if I need ta...

I could not use chapstick because I had oxygen the days prior to surgery. An advocate for sure. If you need me to stay one day all day I can. Just let me know. Where is your surg? Isn't it near by? I am 50 minutes from the coast. Jane

Oh Jane, that is very sweet of you! Thanks for the offer. I live in Gautier and my surgery is at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. I admit, it would be nice to have someone check in on my during the day on Wednesay. My husband will be there all day Tuesday and here's hoping I go through this w/flying colors and get to go home on Thursday. Thanks!
